Damsel snapped a photo of the Colorado River just as we crossed into Arizona on I-10 at the beginning of our recent vacation. I cropped it into a panoramic view of the river, both states and a suspension pipeline crossing the river just south of the interstate bridge. Click the image for the full panorama.

Arizona Official Threatens to Cut Off Los Angeles Power as Payback for Boycott
If Los Angeles wants to boycott Arizona, it had better get used to reading by candlelight.
That’s the message from a member of Arizona’s top government utilities agency, who threw down the gauntlet Tuesday in a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa by threatening to cut off the city’s power supply as retribution.
Gary Pierce, a commissioner on the five-member Arizona Corporation Commission, wrote the letter in response to the Los Angeles City Council’s decision last week to boycott the Grand Canyon State — in protest of its immigration law — by suspending official travel there and ending future contracts with state businesses.
Payback is a bitch, Angelinos. I hope that San Fran, Austin, San Diego and Seattle get the message. Arizona will not be intimidated.
The End of the Specter Dynasty
Buh-bye Arlen . . . sixth term, my @$$.
The AP posted some raw video of the two Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania. In it, you can clearly see character strengths and flaws between the two candidates, Arlen Specter and Joe Sestak. After all the kabuki dancing Specter did when he saw that he would lose to Pat Toomey, he suddenly switched from R to D. James Taranto who posts the daily WSJ column, would often mention Specter thus: Arlen Specter (R2D2 – PA).
We’re on record for strongly disapproving career politicians and are, frankly, glad to see Specter lose in tonight’s PA Democratic primary election. Given the charisma that Joe Sestak seems to evoke, we’re a bit worried that Pat Toomey may not win in November. I hope we’re wrong.

Follow the 2A Blog Bash Tweets at the NRA Convention
We’re not into Twitter, but sometimes we read the latest about interesting events like the NRA Convention currently underway in Charlotte, NC. The 2A Blog Bash website has a sidebar on their web page with tweets from some of the bloggers in attendance. Use the scroll bar to view recent tweets from the convention.
We were part of the Bash at last year’s convention in Phoenix. Sadly, we’re involved in a land purchase deal here in both California and Arizona at the same time and couldn’t get away for this one. Next year, we hope we can attend again in Pittsburgh in 2011.
