Charlie Daniels – Must Read

Over at Palos Verdes Blog, Bill has posted Charlie Daniels’ reaction to the illegal immigrants demonstration. This is an excerpted paragraph:

What disturbs me about the demonstrations is that it’s tantamount to saying, “I am going to come into your country even if it means breaking your laws and there’s nothing you can do about it.” It’s an “in your face” action and speaking just for me I don’t like it one little bit. If there were a half dozen pairs of gonads in Washington bigger than English peas it wouldn’t be happening. Where are you, you bunch of lilly livered, pantywaist, forked tongued, sorry excuses for defenders of The Constitution?

And I just love the last paragraph:

I don’t blame anybody for wanting to come to America, but if you don’t respect our immigration laws why should you respect any others. And by the way, this is America and our flag has stars and stripes. Please get that other one out of my face.

The Real Loser – Moussaoui

Thanks to K. J. Lopez in The Corner on National Review Online:

The sentencing Judge to Moussaoui:

“Mr. Moussaoui, when this proceeding is over, everyone else in this room will leave to see the sun … hear the birds … and they can associate with whomever they want,” she said.

She went on: “You will spend the rest of your life in a supermax prison. It’s absolutely clear who won.”

And she said it was proper he will be kept away from outsiders, unable to speak publicly again.

“Mr. Moussaoui, you came here to be a martyr in a great big bang of glory,” she said, “but to paraphrase the poet T.S. Eliot, instead you will die with a whimper.”

At that point, Moussaoui tried again to interrupt her, but she raised her voice and spoke over him.

“You will never get a chance to speak again and that’s an appropriate ending.”

Brinkema sentenced Moussaoui to six life terms without the chance of parole.

She informed him of his right to appeal the sentence and said she would ask his court-appointed lawyers to file the required notice as a precaution before relieving them from the case. “I believe it would be an act of futility,” she said of an appeal, “but you do have a right.”

101st Fighting Keyboardists

This post tracks back to Captain Ed’s sign-up page for the 101st Fighting Keyboardists. We tried signing in through the TypePad thingy, but after a dozen times of trying to log in, I gave up being told that my sign-in attempt failed over and over. I even got the password mailed to me and still no soap. Oh well.

At any rate, we would like to join the brigade when things settle down — it’s been very well received over the past few days, and Captain Ed must be overwhelmed. I understand since I had to give up trying to keep track of all the sites displaying our Never Forget Tribute graphic.

You can see the sign-up page at Captain’s Quarters.

Global Warming Resources

During the past couple of weeks I have been collecting some internet references to articles that discuss the hype and science of climate change. These are a few more to add to our list of references on this subject.

I hope to keep adding to this list and eventually make an information page in the sidebar that contains references to articles and to other “Global Warming” topical blog articles.

The above courtesy of Cox and Forkum in their fine post on “The Real recycling Problem.”

And one of my favorites:

These are all good resources to invoke when your local moonbat starts spewing the doom and gloom.

Clean Air and Light Traffic

Yesterday, we enjoyed a nice quiet day without handbills on the door, light traffic and good air quality. What happened?

Ex-Liberal in Hollywood Clark Baker has some answers:

A Day Without Illegals

Congratulations Democrats!

LA’s May Day was a huge success! The leaf blowers were silenced, the air was clear, emergency rooms were empty, and the smoke-belching clunkers driven by millions of unlicensed and uninsured illegals were safely parked for much of the day, unclogging our usually-constipated freeways for speeds not seen since the 1984 Olympics! Crime, collisions, and classroom sizes were all down, and commuters returned from work with enough time to mow their lawns and clean their homes before dinner. For one day, Americans caught a glimpse of life without illegals and saw that life wasn’t so bad.

The Morse Code

Samuel F. B. Morse (1791 – 1872), artist, inventor, politician and professor, is credited with the invention of the telegraph in 1844; at that time, he sent a telegraphic message from the Supreme Court in Washington, D. C., to his assistant in Baltimore, MD. The message, “What hath God wrought?” a Biblical quotation from Numbers 24:23, was sent in the code that Morse devised. Morse Code (International) is still used today by the Military, amateur radio operators, and Boy Scouts. Some traditionalist ham operators still use the original American Morse Code.

While Morse had a tendency towards eccentricity and had some heretical religious views, there is one “Morse Code” which no American should ever forget:

“If you beat your sword into a plowshare, you will probably end up plowing for someone who kept their sword.” — Samuel F.B. Morse

Server Problems Persist

I have been in contact with the ISP on our access speed problems. They seem to be overwhelmed with issues, and I am still waiting for them to get the speed problem resolved.

UPDATE: It seems like the problem has now been fixed. I still have not heard from the ISP administrator regarding the resolution, but I will pass that along when I do.

UPDATE II: Apparently, the server they have me on is an older one where the bandwidth is limited and the processor time as well. Since WordPress and my other applications use PHP scripting, the server limited the number of scripts that could run simultaneously. They have increased my script allotment, but warned that I ought to upgrade to the new servers. This will require that I shut the site down for 12-24 hours, with the possibility of having to restore lost items — I need to think about this and plan accordingly. More on it later.
