When McDonalds remodeled their restaurant near the Hassayampa River, they installed a new bronze artwork entitled “Lucky Strike” to depict the old mining days and our town’s heritage. This is without a doubt the best video that has come out and apparently 6 Million others think so too because there have been 6 million hits in 4 days. Please watch it and send it on to others. We’re not absolutely positive that this is a ladder backed woodpecker, but an on line image search seemed to favor that species as a match for this little guy. It was pecking at a mesquite tree on the road in front of our house this morning. We enjoy watching the wildlife in our little corner of the Sonoran High Desert. Click on the image to enlarge.
