Freckled Azaleas

Azaleas, the aristocrats of indoor bloomers, provide a mass of flowers that can be white, red, orange, pink, purple, salmon, freckled, variegated, bicolored or white with colored edges.

These are the white freckled variety seen today at the garden shop.

Gore’s Offsets

gore-fatAfter seeing pictures and interviews after Al Gore received his academy award, I couldn’t help but notice that the champion of the Greenbats has gained considerable weight. As a proponent of the health of the globe, Mr. Gore should realize the risks of being overweight, especially as a senior citizen. Perhaps he can buy some CALORIE OFFSETS that will work as effectively as purchasing carbon offsets.

D.C. Circuit Court Hands Down Significant Victory for Individual Second Amendment Rights!

Friday, March 09, 2007

Fairfax, VA- The District of Columbia Circuit Court today affirmed that the Second Amendment of the Constitution protects an inherent, individual right to bear arms. Today’s ruling should have a positive impact on the current D.C. gun ban, the National Rifle Association is fighting to overcome.

The majority opinion of the court states, “[T]he phrase ‘the right of the people,’ when read intratextually and in light of Supreme Court precedent, leads us to conclude that the right in question is individual.” The majority opinion sums up its holding on this point as follows: The D.C. Circuit Court went further in upholding individual freedoms, rejecting the claim that the Second Amendment does not apply to the District because it is not a State.

The D.C. City Council is expected to appeal the ruling.

It’s going to be interesting to see how this one works it’s way up through the appeal process.

Spring Chrysanthemums

The chrysanthemum is the floral emblem of the imperial family of Japan. Known to have been cultivated in China as far back as the 1400s BC, it first made its way to Japan sometime in the 900s, and was adopted as the emperor’s official seal. Crown Prince Akihito assumed the Chrysanthemum Throne, the world’s oldest monarchy, after the death of his father, Hirohito, on January 7, 1989. His position as the 125th Japanese monarch was formally accepted on this date in 1990.

These mums are now showing on our patio. I just LOVE springtime!

The ‘Global Warming And The Climate’ Website

Last weekend, I ran across a website originating in Norway that offers some compelling science that further debunks the hype about man-made global warming. The site, Global Warming And The Climate, is maintained by Per Strandberg of Voss, Norway. Per does a great job of tying several observed climate influencing phenomena together: Solar activity, greenhouse gasses and cosmic ray flux.

I discovered Per’s site after he left a comment on our post, Correlating Sunspots to Global Warming.

Actually I started to look at the cause for global warming by looking at the data. Here are my result. The leading climate scientists use misleading and deceptive methods when they analyze climate data.

Amazingly there are no repository and comprehensive information to be found at any location on the Internet over the existing two theories for global warming.
People should be able to make informative and objective judgment for themselves.

Therefore I collected this information here on my website http://www.global-warming-and-the-climate.com On it I have collected information and graphs covering both the greenhouse gas and the cosmic ray cloud cover theory and made analysis from the data.

Thanks to Per Strandberg for sharing his good work with us.
