We Win, They Lose

This just in from Patrick Ruffini

“Recently, I’ve written about the need to use new online strategies to mobilize against the Democrat-controlled Congress. Today, I’ve launched WeWinTheyLose.com, a place where conservatives can sign up to keep the pressure on elected officials to stand by our troops and stand for victory in Iraq. This effort is named for Ronald Reagan’s simple recipe for defeating Soviet tyranny: ‘We win, they lose.'”

“Our first action is a petition against the Democrats’ shameless surrender shenanigans. Please sign the petition here:”

Un-American Gothic

uagothicWon’t these two ever stop playing politics with the security of our country?

Excerpt from Fox News:

Democrats need to make a decision to fund the troops or continue to play politics, said Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga.

“I think what they’re going to have to do is make a decision. Look, are we going to continue down the road playing politics or do we really care about those men and women in uniform? And if they do, then they’ll come back and we’ll send the president a clean supplemental,” Chambliss told FOX News.

Chambliss called Reid’s “war is lost” comments from last week “almost un-American.”

“I think it’s almost un-American to come out and tell the enemy that they’ve won and we’ve lost. It’s pure politics and I hope the American people really let the Democrats know that it’s the people fighting this war that really do deserve our support,” Chambliss said.

The New York Times reported that some Democrats want to send Bush a bill that he will sign, without the timetables for withdrawal but others push for standing firm behind the antiwar message from Congress.

What do you mean “almost,” Saxby? They’re full-on un-American on this one.

More apologies to Grant Wood.

The Gore Effect — Revisited

coldwx.jpgThe chief climate propagandist at the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) surely must be saying to himself, “Man, I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing greenhouse gasses.”

No sooner did the newest IPCC “climate report” predicting massive global warming doom hit the streets, than the weather decided to turn cold and snow on Easter weekend. Events were canceled, folks either endured 30° temperatures for outdoor Easter Sunrise Services (or went inside) and baseball games were snowed out. All this on the heels of the most dire report to date.

It seems that whenever there is a major “climate doom and gloom” event, actual weather phenomena say “not so fast.” Things like freezing temperatures in springtime and snowfall in Malibu tend to reinforce the notional Gore Effect.

Twenty years from now, Al Gore‘s histrionics will be all for naught since neither Greenland nor Antarctica will melt causing the oceans to rise and flood the world’s lowlands. The band of cartographers poised to “redraw the map of the planet” will simply not be needed. Top scientists often scoff at Gore, calling his crusade out for what it is — a sham.

The IPCC Report is yet another “over-represented” view of nature and the effects allegedly caused by mankind. The ultimate goal is to extort industrialized nations and to sell the idea of pyramid schemes like Gore’s “carbon offsets.”

Nagin and New Orleans Make D.C. Look Like Mayberry

I am still wondering why this guy isn’t in jail despite having been found in contempt of court and deliberately withholding the firearms of New Orleans’ citizens.

About a year and a half has passed since Mayor Ray Nagin and other City of New Orleans officials illegally stripped legitimate gun owners of their second amendment rights by summarily collecting their guns. Citizens of New Orleans wait in peril for the return of their only means of self-defense – the City doesn’t seem to protect them at all while the murder rate in post-Katrina New Orleans has grown to astronomical proportions!

This statement from Wayne LaPierre at NRANews.com absolutely proves that disarming citizens enhances the ability of criminals to prevail:

No Relief For New Orleans

3/19/2007

The NRA’s been fighting the city of New Orleans for a long time now, trying to get the firearms seized by the city returned to their legal and rightful owners. But every day the city stalls, they’re putting their residents at risk.

The city’s homicide rate is estimated to be an incredible 96 murders per hundred thousand. To put that in perspective, in 2005 the national homicide rate was 5.6 per hundred thousand. New Orleans has done the impossible… it’s made Washington, D.C., look like Mayberry in comparison.

We’re fighting to get the guns back to their lawful owners in New Orleans because it’s the right thing to do. We’re standing up for the Second Amendment, but we’re also standing up for the hundreds of people left defenseless by the city.

Can you imagine living in New Orleans without a firearm for protection? Can you imagine lying in bed at night, hearing the sirens come down your street, knowing that you could be next- and then remembering that the city still hasn’t given your guns back?

We’re fighting for a right, and we’re fighting for freedom, but we’re also fighting a city that prefers its citizens to be helpless against a growing tide of criminal terror.

Make no mistake: We won’t stop until we’ve won.

What’s Wrong With This Picture?

gore-lies.jpgRemember those picture puzzles where you were supposed to identify as many things as you can that are wrong with it? You would write down all the things you found then go to the answer key to see how you did.

I’m sure that wasn’t Al Gore’s intention when he produced his science propaganda flick, “An Inconvenient Truth.” Gore does, however, embed quite a number of “things wrong” with his Global Warming Crock-umentary — consider the following list:

  • Gore promoted the now debunked “hockey stick” temperature chart in an attempt to prove man’s overwhelming impact on the climate
  • Gore attempted to minimize the significance of the Medieval Warm period and the Little Ice Age
  • Gore insisted on a link between increased hurricane activity and global warming that most sciences believe does not exist
  • Gore asserted that today’s Arctic is experiencing unprecedented warmth while ignoring that temperatures in the 1930’s were as warm or warmer
  • Gore claimed the Antarctic was warming and losing ice but failed to note, that is only true of a small region and the vast bulk has been cooling and gaining ice
  • Gore hyped unfounded fears that Greenland’s ice is in danger of disappearing
  • Gore erroneously claimed that ice cap on Mt. Kilimanjaro is disappearing due to global warming, even while the region cools and researchers blame the ice loss on local land-use practices
  • Gore made assertions of massive future sea level rise that is way out side of any supposed scientific “consensus” and is not supported in even the most alarmist literature
  • Gore incorrectly implied that a Peruvian glacier’s retreat is due to global warming, while ignoring the fact that the region has been cooling since the 1930s and other glaciers in South America are advancing
  • He blamed global warming for water loss in Africa’s Lake Chad, despite NASA scientists concluding that local population and grazing factors are the more likely culprits
  • He inaccurately claimed polar bears are drowning in significant numbers due to melting ice when in fact they are thriving
  • He completely failed to inform viewers that the 48 scientists who accused President Bush of distorting science were part of a political advocacy group set up to support Democrat Presidential candidate John Kerry in 2004

Hat tip to Senator Jim Inhofe, whose Skeptics Guide to Global Warming (PDF) tells us what’s wrong with Gore’s Picture.

McCain Off the Short List

Once upon a time, I thought I could support John McCain as the next Republican presidential candidate. We had him on our short list of favorable candidates. Over the last couple of years, however, he has eroded our support for his candidacy because of his positions on several key issues:

And now there’s this:

John McCain, applauding Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for taking on the “compelling issue of global climate challenge,” pledged Wednesday to make California’s global warming fight the model for a national effort to curb greenhouse gases.

Appearing with the governor at the Port of Long Beach, the Arizona senator said he will fight in the Senate — and if elected president — to adopt low carbon standards for vehicle fuels to cut pollution blamed for climate change.

McCain sharply criticized the Bush administration for only belatedly acknowledging the global warming threat and for failing to come up with solutions.

I would assess this administration’s effort on global warming as terrible,” McCain said.

He called for a national program based on two efforts already begun in California.

It sounds as though the Senator has finally found a religion of sorts – a belief in intangibles founded in rumor, innuendo and superstition rather than in fact.
