Our New Gun Store

trader.jpgWhile we were visiting Wickenburg, we stopped in the small town’s only gun store, The Gun Trader. List of services:

  • BUY—SELL—TRADE
  • Shotguns
  • New and Used
  • Good variety of Accessories
  • Rifles
  • Handguns
  • A large selection of AMMUNITION
  • We sell Hunting & Fishing Licenses

I introduced myself to “Roger,” the proprietor, and took a look around the shop. There were a lot of long guns, both rifles and shotguns. The ammo shelves were very well stocked.

There are a couple of photos of the interior of the shop here.

The Gun Trader isn’t the only store in town that carries ammo. We found some for sale in the local hardware store although the selection was sparse – sort of like it is everywhere.

We are glad that there is a local outlet for firearms. We will be making the occasional trip down to Cabela’s in Glendale, about 45 miles, but we’re happy they aren’t the closest dealer to our new place.

State Line Panorama

Damsel snapped a photo of the Colorado River just as we crossed into Arizona on I-10 at the beginning of our recent vacation. I cropped it into a panoramic view of the river, both states and a suspension pipeline crossing the river just south of the interstate bridge. Click the image for the full panorama.

Mountain View

Every once in a while, I get a shot of the Damsel doing what she loves to do: taking pictures. We were at keys View in Joshua Tree National Park on a nice, clear day. Click on the image to enlarge.

Desert Colors

Crossing the desert in the springtime is a very colorful experience. The ocotillo and wildflowers in this photo offer a small sample of the variety of desert colors. Click on the image to enlarge.

Salton Sea from Keys View

We visited the Joshua Tree National Park today. As always when we come here, we drove to Keys View to see the spectacular panorama overlooking the Coachella Valley and Salton Sea. This photo (slightly enhanced to reduce the haze) shows the Salton Sea just above the tops of the mountain ridge in the foreground. Click on the image to enlarge.

Down the River

As we left Lake Havasu City this morning, we drove from the lake down the Parker strip to Parker Dam and then into Parker where we crossed over into California to spend a couple of nights on the Mojave, near Joshua Tree National Park. I took a lot of photos of Lake Havasu on the way – this is a scene taken just north of Parker Dam where you can see a settlement on the California side of the lake in the distance. London Bridge

We’re staying a couple of blocks away from the London Bridge tonight. We were in Kingman, AZ, yesterday checking out all old Historic Route 66 there. We drove south to Lake Havasu City, AZ, today, to visit the tourist attractions here before heading back into California tomorrow. Click on the image to enlarge.
