Sharing Targets

When we go to the range to practice, we generally share a target. We use one for the revolvers and generally change it out when we switch to the 9mm pistols. Most of the time when a target gets perforated to the point of not being able to see where the rounds are going, we will paste on one of those fluorescent glows-where-you-hit-it targets. For shotguns, we put up 2 x 3 foot silhouette targets.

Although we generally know who is hitting where on the target, there is some ambiguity. At the end of the video here you will see that even though there are shots all over the target, we are collectively getting pretty good at hitting the center a lot of the time.

Rapid Fire

Today was a fun day at the shooting range — Damsel is getting really good at emptying the magazine in her 20 gauge Remington 870 in just a couple of seconds. She maintains good accuracy also.

What a Difference a Year Makes

Rose Parade, January 1, 2007

Last year, it rained on our parade. This year is a completely different story with chamber-of-commerce weather and a beautiful Rose Parade and Rose Bowl football game.

Happy New Year, Everyone!

Family, Friends, Football and Food

Damsel and I are planning to celebrate Thanksgiving at home again today. According to the American Automobile Association, 40 million people will be travelling somewhere or another, so we figure that home is haven from the madness.

While we will be preparing the feast for later, we plan on watching the NFL Thanksgiving Games:Dallas vs. Tampa Bay and Detroit vs. Miami. I think the home teams will win, but Damsel wants the Florida teams to win. We’ll see . . .

In a break from tradition, the NFL has decided to air a third game in Kansas City where they will be hosting Denver. Damsel and I are again split where I think the home team will win and she likes the visitors (well not really, we like San Diego and Oakland over both of these teams). Luckily, we have the satellite and will be able to see this game on the NFL channel; the game is not going to be shown on local TV.

Finally, we’re having the traditional American Thanksgiving feast this afternoon, with turkey, mashed taters, green beans with onions and fennel, Brussels sprouts with pancetta, cranberry sauce, stuffing, gravy and pumpkin pie. I have a couple of Sam Adams Winter Lagers on ice and Damsel has a bottle of Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay (a great California Wine).

OK — enough about that — let’s start the preparations!

Have a very Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

Terrell Owens Suicide Attempt

This just makes no sense at all . . .

From Fox News:

DALLAS — Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens attempted suicide Tuesday night by overdosing on pain medication, according to a police report.

The report says Owens even put two more pills into his mouth after fire rescue personnel arrived, according to local media.

The Dallas police report released Wednesday morning said Owens told rescue workers “that he was depressed.” The report was first released by WFAA-TV.

UPDATE: Owens says it was an allergic reaction – not suicide. Looks forward to playing on Sunday. Dallas is very important to him.

Oh yeah? Is that why he went and stood taunting and gloating on the Irving stadium star after making touchdowns as a 49er? I forget the Cowboy’s name who decked him the second time he did that.
