Outback Mail Boxes

Outback Mail Boxes

We pass a lot of mail box clusters when traveling along US 60 in the Arizona “outback,” between Wickenburg and Interstate 10 near Brenda, AZ. This particular cluster is near Hope, AZ. There is nothing particularly interesting about mail boxes except this cluster has one mail box that is eight feet off of the ground. What’s up with that?

I took this photo today on our way to Palm Desert, CA. We are amused by the maverick mail box and as we have passed this spot dozens of times in our travels between home and California. We wonder if there is a big rig RV or truck that uses that box or if it is simply a joke. It is just plain weird and funny at the same time.

The Church of Woodworkism

Going to Church

Damsel and I took an interesting ride out to neighboring Congress, AZ today to work out the details of our back courtyard gate at home. When we got there, we met with “Roger” who was working on our project. We got specific about the details of the gate, made a cash down payment and inspected his work in progress. It was all good.

While we were there, Roger offered to show us around the compound and lumberyard. One feature, which was not there four years ago when we commissioned them to build the front courtyard gate. He referred to the church-like structure as the title of this post. In reality, it was a storage facility where freshly-milled wood planks (more like thick beams) were placed to dry out prior to being used in any of their projects.

The whole compound is really interesting and consists of an art studio, a lumber yard, several rustic-looking buildings and museum-quality relics of all sorts. If you’re ever in the area, the place is located on Arizona State Route 89 just inside town limits of Congress. It will be on the left if going north on 89. It’s hard to miss.

A-h-h-h, That New Camera Smell

Beethoven’s Nose

I just came back in from the courtyard where I had been taking some pictures of ‘stuff,’ when I got in the house I was greeted by ‘Beethoven,’ our five year old min pin. He seemed very interested in the camera, so I let him sniff at it.

I guess I pressed on the shutter release just as his nose was up to the lens guard. I thought this was an interesting and humorous view of the curiosity of a small, but very loveable dog. Click on the image to enlarge.

Easter Deal

Easter Deal

The bungling of foreign policy has never in the history of this country been such a joke as the current administration makes it to be. I love Ramirez’ cartoon likening the idiot Kerry to a pink bunny while dancing on a carpet that is embroidered “Stupid is as stupid does.” It made me laugh out loud. A Glitch in the Matrix

GLITCH!

This is an actual, unretouched screen shot of the NOAA weather report for our town as observed on the internet this evening. I did a double take when I saw this on the computer screen and captured a screen shot before it reverted to the actual reported temperature of sixty-something.

It would not surprise me to see this erroneous data point merged into the annual average, knowing the way that the Government and Greenbats (but I repeat myself) manage climate statistics to look like the sky is falling. It is well known by those of us that pay attention, but mostly carefully concealed from the public-at-large, that statistical manipulation runs rampant among climate alarmists.

Remember, it’s not about the climate. It’s about taxation and control. Click on the image to enlarge.
