Keep on Target for Breast Cancer Awareness

six-shooter bra

The Wickenburg Community Hospital sponsored a Bra Decorating Contest to highlight Breast Cancer Awareness month. There were a lot of nice entries, but my favorite was this brilliant presentation of pink targets and pink six-shooters in pink holsters. I loved it (and it got my vote). How could you not if you are into guns and target shooting.

There must have been a couple of dozen entries, most of them very creative and beautiful. The Arizona Flag and Red/White/Blue bra was very nice too. Click here to see the Arizona decorated bra.

“Contemptible Ray” Nagin Indicted

Contemptible Ray, the anti-gun mayor of New Orleans has been indicted on a host of charges. You remember Nagin, who confiscated legally owned weapons from New Orleans citizens in the wake of hurricane Katrina. Despite a court order to return the weapons, he and his police squad stored them in barrels and squatted on them until being found in contempt of court. By then, many of the guns were rusted and rendered non-functional.

Now, he may finally get the jail time he so richly deserves . . .

From The Patriot Post:

Ray Nagin Indicted

Former New Orleans Mayor Ray “Chocolate City” Nagin was indicted last week on 21 counts of fraud, bribery, money laundering and tax falsification related to kickbacks he took from businesses looking to rebuild the city after Hurricane Katrina. The indictment accuses Nagin of using his office to enrich himself and business associates through wire transfers, free travel and other illegal means. Nagin’s indictment is no surprise, considering the corrupt history of New Orleans politics and Nagin’s own reputation. It’s also no surprise that only one major news outlet reporting of the event identified Nagin’s party affiliation. In case you were wondering, he’s a Democrat, through and through.

Family Entrepreneur

Pro 2A Tees

Damsel’s nephew has a little business going where he applies his graphic arts training to creating custom designs for his clients. As a sideline, he started making custom T shirts, many with pro-second amendment messages. I got these images of just two of many Pro 2A designs from his facebook page, TB Creative Designs. Click on the image to enlarge.

I’ve known this kid since he was literally a knee-high. Glad to see him doing well in spite of the dour economical picture.

Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire

I received this message today from Ray Carter of the Second Amendment Foundation:

Second Amendment FoundationIn the last 15 days, supporters of the 2nd Amendment pledged [over] $15,000 for support of the important new film “Assaulted: Civil Rights Under Fire” that exposes California as the front line in the civil rights battle between public safety and the 2nd Amendment. The Second Amendment Foundation and the Calguns Foundation have each contributed $5,000.00 to get this project off the ground.

Please go to http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/assaulted/assaulted and make your pledge now.

Ray asked us to let readers of Cap’n Bob & the Damsel know about the project even though we have already put similar posts on the other blog.

Cleaning the Hawg

cleanup.jpgWe went shooting today. Since we have been arranging for our new Arizona home, we have been remiss in going to the range. When we came home, it was time to get out the gun cleaning toolbox and scrub off all the crud.

I took this picture of my Warthog after I got her all cleaned up. The .38 special rounds are for my other gun. Click on the image to enlarge.

We shot our .38 special S&W 442, our .357 magnum S&W 686, our .45 ACP Glock 30, this gun and our Remington 870 12 gauge security shotgun. We were a little out of practice but we both felt better about shooting.

We had a lot of fun but today was our last trip to Sharpshooter.

Our New Gun Store

trader.jpgWhile we were visiting Wickenburg, we stopped in the small town’s only gun store, The Gun Trader. List of services:

  • BUY—SELL—TRADE
  • Shotguns
  • New and Used
  • Good variety of Accessories
  • Rifles
  • Handguns
  • A large selection of AMMUNITION
  • We sell Hunting & Fishing Licenses

I introduced myself to “Roger,” the proprietor, and took a look around the shop. There were a lot of long guns, both rifles and shotguns. The ammo shelves were very well stocked.

There are a couple of photos of the interior of the shop here.

The Gun Trader isn’t the only store in town that carries ammo. We found some for sale in the local hardware store although the selection was sparse – sort of like it is everywhere.

We are glad that there is a local outlet for firearms. We will be making the occasional trip down to Cabela’s in Glendale, about 45 miles, but we’re happy they aren’t the closest dealer to our new place.
