These tiny flowers appeared on my thimble cactus today. They are pale yellow and only a quarter of an inch across. This is one of the cacti we brought from California and is doing very well here in Arizona. I guess they like our “second spring” that occurs in late October and early November. Sandy has made landfall and is rampaging across the northeast. We wish our friends in the region the best, especially Glenn B and Sebastian/Bitter.
These little antelope squirrels raid Damsels bird feeders. I used to take pot shots at them with the airsoft pistol before we had the patio screen enclosure, but now I use an anti-squirrel spray to treat the feeders. It works pretty good, but wears off after a day or two.
More retirement drudgery . . . 😉

On our way up to the shooting range yesterday, we passed the rodeo grounds where it was very busy with a practice session for the weekend rodeo. From the Wickenburg Sun:
Wickenburg High School’s Rodeo Club will host the statewide High School/Junior High School Rodeo this weekend at the Everett Bowman rodeo grounds in Wickenburg.
There were scores of horse trailers and hundreds of animals and people at the rodeo grounds. Click on the image to enlarge.
