Bush hates poor? Only if numbers lie
Larry Elder, an attorney, syndicated columnist and national radio talk-show host provided some interesting counterpoints to the “Bush hates the poor” moonbats.
Some of the facts highlighted in Larry’s column:
- Education: Under No Child Left Behind, Bush increased federal spending on education — in inflation-adjusted dollars — from 2001 to 2005 by 38 percent.
- Job training: President Bush’s 2005 budget included 12.5 percent more funding than in 2001 for job training and employment assistance.
- Community service: The budget of the Corporation for National and Community Service — which includes funding for former President Bill Clinton’s pet project, AmeriCorps — grew by an inflation-adjusted 76 percent from 1995 to 2005.
- Health care: The federal share of Medicaid, the joint federal/state program, increased from $129 billion in 2001 to $176 billion in 2004, a 36 percent increase, averaging over 10 percent a year. Health research and regulation funding has gone from $42 billion in 2001 to $63 billion in 2004, a 48 percent increase.
- Faith-based initiatives: Under President Bush, 600 religious organizations received federal grants for the first time in 2003 and 2004, and faith-based groups received 8 percent of available social service grants in 2003, and 10 percent in 2004.
- SBA loans: The Small Business Administration provided twice as many loans in 2004 than it did in 2001, providing over $19 billion in loans and venture capital to almost 88,000 small businesses.
Each of the programs mentioned above that are supported by the Bush administration are directly aimed at providing advantage to economically challenged people in this country.

It’s a shame that the weak-minded minions of the left parrot these ideas that have no basis in truth. As we have stated before, there is a shortage of gray-matter in brains of those making these vain repetitions until they themselves believe the lies.
Flu Season
Damsel and I signed up to get our flu shots next week. We missed getting them last season due to the shortage of vaccine. Luckily, we didn’t get the flu, but since Damsel had it the previous season, perhaps her immunity was up.
And, speaking of vaccine shortages, did you know that it is the insanity of the liberal left and endless frivolous lawsuits that have caused American pharmaceutical companies to shun vaccines?

Villaraigosa – Village Idiot
In this case, the “village” is the City of Los Angeles and hizzoner thinks the people are too stupid to vote for themselves:
“In this instance it’s very clear that the initiative process is being misused,” Villaraigosa said. “These are matters that could and should be addressed by the Legislature.”
From GOP Bloggers:
[I]nstead of allowing citizens to vote on issues, Democrats prefer to spend time overriding the clear will of the people on gay marriage and legitimizing illegal aliens.

Nobel Prize Committee Upstages it’s Own Stupidity
In an effort to perpetuate it’s own stupidity and far-left political bias, the Nobel Prize Committee awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to Mohammed el-Baradei and the International Atomic Energy Agency.
This year’s Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to the UN nuclear watchdog and its director-general Mohamed El Baradei. The committee that made the announcement in Oslo said it was honouring efforts to stop the spread of nuclear arms. This is the year of the 60th anniversary of the US bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency and El Baradei will share a prize worth 1.1 million euros.
The agency has been investigating Iran’s nuclear programme for the last few years. It is trying to find out whether the programme is peaceful, as Tehran maintains, or aimed at producing weapons, a claim made by Washington.
Despite strong U.S. opposition over his differing views with Washington on Iran and Iraq, Egyptian-born El Baradei was re-elected this year to a third four-year term.
I thought they had reached the pinnacle of their stupidity when they awarded the prize to U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan in 2001. But noooooooo! They awarded it to former U.S. President Jimmy Carter for his mindless rants the following year.
Under the less-than-watchful eyes of el-Baradei and his agency, North Korea and Iran continue to proliferate their nuclear weapons programs. Armed with letters of reprimand and inconsequential warnings, the IAEA has allowed these insane nations to merely kick the ankle-biting agency away and continue with their programs as they please.
The fact that the Nobel Committee consistently awards this now-demeaned prize to entities within the United Nations underscores the insignificance of this once-revered prize.
She Never Cried
It just occured to me that this lyric from the country music group Confederate Railroad could apply to the Junior Senator from New York:
She never cried when Ol’ Yeller died,
she wasn’t washed in the blood of the lamb.
She never stood up for the Star-Spangled Banner
and she wasn’t a John Wayne fan.
Her baby-blue eyes hid the warning signs
that woman was bad to the bone.
She never cried when Ol’ Yeller died
do you think I’ll cry when she’s gone?
Now all we have to do is ensure that the last part about her being gone comes true.
Rob Reiner Admits he’s a “Meathead”
When confronted with a prod to run for California Governor, Rob Reiner seemed to call himself a “meathead.” From the Sacramento Bee:
SAN FRANCISCO – In town to blast a union dues initiative as “ultimately bad for our democracy,” actor-director-activist Rob Reiner found himself nudged Thursday to put his celebrity to work for the Democrats as a candidate for governor.
Reiner, at a town hall-type forum sponsored by the No on 75 forces, didn’t say no. He appeared to encourage the idea, in fact, in an exchange with former San Francisco Supervisor Doris Ward. She told Reiner, “I really wish you would one day run for governor because people want movie stars and television stars” in office.
“However good (announced Democratic gubernatorial candidates) Phil Angelides and Steve Westly are,” Ward said, “the way to beat (Republican Gov.) Arnold (Schwarzenegger) is with …”
“… is with a Meathead?” Reiner interjected.
Okay, so the Democrats in San Francisco believe that this ultra-liberal, pudgy, balding, scruffy-bearded guy –
Will be more popular and well-received than the Governor?
I think they should encourage Meathead to run.
And by the way, Californians, please vote YES on proposition 75 to eliminate political contributions from corrupt organizations such as teachers unions. It’s going to strengthen democracy in California, not “be bad” for it. The reason it’s not bad is that individuals, not unions, can determine whether or not to contribute politically, and to whom they contribute; simply put, exercising their individual democratic right to do so. Meathead apparently misses this point.
