Everyone seemed to be having a lot of fun doing what they love. We had a chance to shoot some of the many interesting guns the group brought to the range. We will be blogging about this event for weeks to come.

We woke up just outside of Yosemite National Park this morning. We’re on our way to the Gun Blogger Rendezvous in Reno, and we stayed near Yosemite so we could drive through and see this beautiful place.

The last several days have been the usual end-of-summer heatwave here in Southern California. Our house isn’t air-conditioned, so we open the windows and blow outside air through the family room, where we spend a lot of our time.
One thing we did do, was to look through some of our vacation pictures from last winter when we went to the Grand Canyon. Pictures like this one (click to enlarge) remind us why we only visit the snow. Several of these monster snowplows passed us on our way to the National Park entrance that day.
In just a few more days, we will be taking off for the Gun Blogger Rendezvous in Reno. On the way, we’re planning to stop and take in some of the scenery. Our first stop is going to be Yosemite National Park.
It has been many years since either of us has visited Yosemite. We’re going to stay the night before near the park and will take the scenic drive to some of the highlights before heading to our next destination, probably near Lake Tahoe. Reno will be the next stop after we see some of the Tahoe area attractions. We’re still working out the details.

I took a lot of pictures last month when we were traveling up California State Route 1. This one, I believe, was taken just south of Big Sur. The scenery along this road is quite spectacular.
Well, it’s more like a trade-off than a sacrifice. We’re giving up our annual vacation to the City of Avalon on Catalina Island. Our wedding anniversary falls in the middle of September and we generally go back to Avalon, where we were married, to celebrate.
We’ve gone to Catalina for the last five years straight, but we’re not going this year. Instead, we will be going to the Gun Blogger Rendezvous in Reno, Nevada. We will spend our anniversary at the Silver Legacy Hotel among the ranks of some of the Gun Bloggers.
We look forward to going next month, but we will also miss some of our favorite Avalon places, like the Casino, where this world-famous art-deco image of a mermaid lives.
