We were up at Fort MacArthur today to visit with DrJim. While we were there, I walked around with Cabela and took several photos of flowers in bloom. This is a photo of a flower on a prickly pear cactus growing on the hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Beautiful cactus flowers bloom in California too! Click on the image to enlarge.

Javelina Sighting
I was on the patio earlier this evening and saw a javelina up in the wash behind the house. It disappeared behind the vegetation and I dismissed it as another distant sighting. Cabela started barking and carrying on in the front room. I went to see what was up and there were a family of six javelinas foraging across the road. I ran to get my camera and got this photo of the last one heading up the road. Click on the image to see the non-cropped version.
Great Room Area Rug
We finished a lot of pending chores today, including installing our new area rug in the great room. We moved the furniture out of the way, laid down the carpet and moved the furniture back (whew). But it’s now done and looks great.
We also picked up our custom mirrors for the bathrooms to be installed next week. It’s all coming together. Click on the image to enlarge, but do it quietly so you won’t wake Cabela, who is taking a nap on the love seat.
Bird Watching
Cabela, our Min-Pin, is fascinated with the colorful little pyrrhuloxia which I renamed a Casandro Cardinal because nobody here could pronounce that other thing. She is actually fascinated with all of the wildlife she sees, but she won’t be able to look out of the front windows after our shutters are installed in a few weeks. There is always the patio sliding glass door in the rear for her amusement. Click on the image to enlarge.
