Much Ado About Nothing

While Teddy Kennedy (elsewhere described as a category 5 windbag) whined about Judge Alito’s alleged affiliation with a Princeton University activist group, the record was being set straight that the Judge had little or nothing to do with the group.

From The Washington Times: Alito probe is a bust

A bipartisan group of Senate lawyers did not find any mention of Judge Samuel A. Alito Jr. in four boxes of materials from a Princeton alumni group Democrats have dubbed racist and misogynistic in confirmation hearings.

The search dealt a blow to some of the final Democratic opposition to Judge Alito, spearheaded by Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, Massachusetts Democrat. He demanded the papers be subpoenaed from the Library of Congress before the hearings resumed this morning.

“Judge Alito’s name never appeared in any document,” said Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter, who secured access to the documents without a subpoena. Democrats have questioned Judge Alito’s commitment to civil rights and equality for women because he said he belonged to the Concerned Alumni of Princeton (CAP) on a 1985 job application.

This is just another example of how desperate Democrats and the left have become. Judge Alito should be through the worst of it by now, with a split party-line vote to take place shortly. Hopefully, the Democrats won’t be stupid enough to attempt a filibuster in the full Senate confirmation (or will they?).

Preview: Weapons of the 21st Century

New technologies using the electromagnetic spectrum show promise for better, more effective weapons to defend America – but only if the government provides the funding and support.

From Space.Com:

E-Weapons: Directed Energy Warfare In The 21st Century

LOS ALAMOS, New Mexico — There is a new breed of weaponry fast approaching—and at the speed of light no less. They are labeled “directed-energy weapons” and may well signal a revolution in military hardware—perhaps more so than the atomic bomb.

Directed-energy weapons take the form of lasers, high-powered microwaves, and particle beams. Their adoption for ground, air, sea, and space warfare depends not only on using the electromagnetic spectrum, but also upon favorable political and budgetary wavelengths too.

That’s the outlook of J. Douglas Beason, author of the recently published book: The E-Bomb: How America’s New Directed Energy Weapons Will Change the Way Wars Will Be Fought in the Future (Da Capo Press, October 2005).Beason previously served on the White House staff working for the President’s Science Advisor (Office of Science and Technology Policy) under both the Bush and Clinton Administrations.

This concept particularly intrigued me in that it also has potential in the area of law enforcement. Think of applications where a taser might be used, or in a hostage or standoff situation:

Then there’s Active Denial Technology—a non-lethal way to use millimeter-wave electromagnetic energy to stop, deter, and turn back an advancing adversary. This technology, supported by the U.S. Marines, uses a beam of millimeter waves to heat a foe’s skin, causing severe pain without damage, and making the adversary flee the scene.

Sizzle, you asshole!

And God forbid that advertisements or worse, Hip-Hop/Rap get delivered via this medium:

Beason said that one blue sky idea of his own he tagged “the voice from heaven”. By tuning the resonance of a laser onto the Earth’s ionosphere, you can create audible frequencies. Like some boom box in the sky, the laser-produced voice could bellow from above down to the target below: “Put down your weapons.”

The article concludes with the inevitable problem of bureaucracy holding technology back (emphasis added):

History lesson

Late last year, speaking before the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C., Beason told his audience that laser energy, the power sources, beam control, as well as knowledge about how laser beams interact with Earth’s atmosphere are quite mature. The technology is ready to shift into front line warfare status.

“The good news is that directed-energy exists. Directed-energy is being tested and within a few years directed-energy is going to be deployed upon the battlefield,” Beason reported. “But the bad news is that acquisition policies right now in this nation are one more gear toward evolutionary practices rather than revolutionary practices.”

Visionaries win wars…and not bureaucrats. We’ve seen this through history,” Beason observed.

You can be assured that non-visionary bureaucrats (Ted Kennedys, Barbara Boxers and John Kerrys) will fight any new technologies tooth and nail.

Star Whores Hall of Shame

The Star Whores Hall of Shame feature is now open for business! It contains a little video (reminiscent of a movie title scene) and a list of inductees to the Hall of Shame. Like most other features, comments are open (after registration) and we would like your reactions (read the “making comments” page for information).

The feature is available by clicking the link above or the link/logo in the sidebar.

There are already several names on the list and we will be adding other names when we get an opportunity to blog in response to their insane remarks or behavior – and believe me they will, and this list will continue to grow.

Hollywood and the entertainment industry are a rich harvesting ground for lunatic behavior and remarks. I expect to have several new candidates inducted after the Golden Showers Globe Awards and the Acad-anemic Awards ceremonies take place.

We have only just begun, but we’re certain that the list will grow. Visit by clicking this link or by clicking on the logo or page name in the Information section of the sidebar.

Update: If you have any candidates for this feature, we would be pleased to include them. Just submit a comment or send an email (address on the bottom of the sidebar).

Stardust to Return to Earth

NASA’s Stardust capsule is scheduled to streak across western skies over a path from Crescent City, California, Winnemucca and Elko, Nevada to its touchdown point in western Utah. The probe will return minute particles collected during it’s journey in space.

One of my daily visits, SpaceWeather.com had this information:

FIREBALL ALERT: On Sunday morning, Jan. 15th, between 1:56 and 1:59 a.m. PST, a brilliant fireball will streak over northern California and Nevada. It’s NASA’s Stardust capsule, returning to Earth with samples of dust from Comet Wild 2. The best observing sites are near Carlin and Elko, Nevada, where the man-made meteor is expected to shine as much as 60 times brighter than Venus.

The flight path of the Stardust capsule

The fireball might be widely visible from parts of Oregon, Idaho and Utah as well as California and Nevada: observing tips. NASA is interested in videos and photos of the re-entry, which could help researchers learn more about, e.g., the physics of heat shields. Got data? Send it here.

After the spacecraft returns, volunteers will analyze the micrographs by looking for “needles” in “haystacks” – minute particles, few and far between – from electronic images distributed for analysis, similar to the Search for Extra Terrestrial Institute’s distributed processing of SETI data. You can volunteer and maybe be part of the team at Stardust@Home.

Iran Blames US for Jet Crashes

From Fox News:Military Jet Crashes in Iran

TEHRAN, Iran — A small military jet crashed in northwestern Iran on Monday, killing the commander of the ground forces of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards and at least 12 other people, state media said.

The plane, which belongs to the Revolutionary Guards, was attempting an emergency landing at Oroumieh, located 560 miles northwest of the capital, Tehran, near the Turkish border, state television reported.

. . .

State television said the plane was a Falcon jet, which is the preferred aircraft of high-ranking military officers in Iran.

Falcon Jets are built in France by Dassault Falcon Jet Corp.

The article goes on to articulate the Iranian complaint and some of its aviation history:

Iran has a history of aircraft accidents involving a heavy loss of life. The government has blamed the U.S. trade embargo which makes it impossible for Iran to buy parts for its old US-built aircraft.

In December, 115 people were killed when a military transport plane crashed into a 10-story apartment building near Tehran’s Mehrabad airport as the pilot was returning to the airport shortly after takeoff to make an emergency landing.

In 2003, a Russian-made Ilyushin-76 carrying members of the Revolutionary Guards crashed in the mountains of southeastern Iran, killing 302 people.

In 2002, a Russian-made Tupolev Tu-154 struck snow-covered mountains in western Iran, killing all 119 people on board.

So, is Iran blaming the US for the Russians not selling them Ilyushin and Tupolev parts? Or are they blaming us because they have to fly French and Russian POS aircraft instead of superior US-built aircraft?

Deluded Iranian and other middle eastern idiots will blame everything on America, regardless of the facts.

Belafonte, Glover, West – Traitors

During WWII to consort with enemies of America was considered treason. Harry Belafonte, Danny Glover and Cornel West are no less treacherous since they openly support and cavort with socialist dictator Hugo Chavez who has declared himself an enemy of America, and is one of the four most dangerous men in the world.

From Fox News:

Belafonte Says Bush Is ‘Greatest Terrorist in the World,’ Praises Venezuelan Dictator

Sunday, January 08, 2006

CARACAS, Venezuela — The American singer and activist Harry Belafonte called President Bush “the greatest terrorist in the world” on Sunday and said millions of Americans support the socialist revolution of Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez.

Belafonte led a delegation of Americans including the actor Danny Glover and the Princeton University scholar Cornel West that met the Venezuelan president for more than six hours late Saturday. Some in the group attended Chavez’s television and radio broadcast Sunday.

Read the entire Fox News article here.

I would think twice before becoming a member of the American Association of Retired People, who named Belafonte as Person of the Year.

I am inducting Celebridiots® Belafonte and Glover into Cap’n Bob and Damsel’s Star Whores Hall of Shame in recognition of their extreme ignorance and for endorsing a dictator who terrorizes and intimidates his own people and threatens the stability of the Americas.
