Damsel captured this image of a red dragonfly in the courtyard of the medical offices this morning. We’re not sure, but it looks like a ruby meadowhawk dragonfly that we spotted in California in October of 2007. Click on the image to enlarge.

They are among the most skilled at flying among all predators, devouring mosquitos, in mid air and for that alone we should all love them. Yet, I guess, I would be less than appreciative of them if I failed to mention that Dragonflies are certainly some of the most spectacularly bejeweled and colorful of all the creatures in the world.
