That here in Cali, or in Az?
I just noticed last night how crisp it was, and all the leaves blowing around here.
And man, did the wind ever BLOW last night! My wind gauge indicated 55MPH gusts here in Long Beach!
Pistachia chinensis, the Chinese Pistachio. According to the Sunset Western Garden Book, it’s the only tree to color scarlet in the desert. Beautiful, isn’t it?
drjim, you’re lucky. there are places in the mountains and foothills that saw winds in excess of 80 mph, and a ski resort in Colorado reported a gust of 123mph! 😯
This pretty tree is located on US 60 in Wickenburg, AZ. We have had rain here the last two evenings but the winds seem to be normal. Chilly too, highs in the 50’s and lows in the 30’s.
The tree is beautiful. Thanks for the pic. Am looking forward to seeing the Hasayampa and the Casandro Wash full of water!
Rarely does the water flow on top of the Hassayampa. It is subterranean most of the way. As for the wash, there is a giant flood control reservoir just to the south of us with a dam and spillway. It would take a lot of rain for the water level to get up to the spillway. We’ll get pictures if it ever does though. 😉
