On a day with monster 13 to 20 foot waves battering Southern California, seagulls play in the surf.

Update: Hey, this is Cap’n Bob. Damsel’s lovely picture is wonderful. That being said, the other dimension was the sound and fury of the surf, and the feeling of being there. So, to add to the sensory experience, I shot a video panorama of the cove where she shot her picture. Turn up the speakers and listen to the surf and the foghorn from the Point Vicente Lighthouse.

One Reporter’s Opinion

No one who lived in the Los Angeles area between the fifties and the seventies, will forget the iconic television newsman, George Putnam. One of the regular features on his newscast was “One Reporter’s Opinion,” during which he would editorialize on a topical issue. I enjoyed watching Putnam’s newscast, primarily because of his conservative point-of-view in spite of the liberal Times-Mirror‘s ownership of the television station, KTTV.

Well, I’m happy to report that George Putnam’s “One Reporter’s Opinion” feature is alive and well at NewsMax on line. Better yet, his politics are still in line with reality:

It is this reporter’s opinion that the very heart of America is under attack. There are those, foreign and domestic, who actually HATE this great nation and all it stands for. Led by atheists and the ACLU, there are groups who would love to destroy the promises on which our nation was founded – our very way of life.

Aided and abetted by strange court decisions and oddball judges, each day brings a new shocker. We find federal judges ruling against the Pledge of Allegiance as unconstitutional, finding that “one nation under God” violates schoolchildren’s right “to be free from a coercive requirement to affirm God.”

The latest target of the atheists is to remove “in God we trust” from our currency, claiming that this phrase violates the so-called separation of church and state.

Three times now—three times this year—millions of Iraqis have come out swinging and voting. Hearing the news about the high turnout (as high as 75% in some regions) and low incidence of violence during the elections in Iraq yesterday, I have to wonder how many times Iraqis have to demonstrate their commitment to freedom and democracy before the world starts to believe it.

Boxer out of the Gate in Race for Impeachment

It seems that Barbara Boxer just can’t wait to bring articles of Impeachment. Read Boxer And John Dean Discuss Impeachment at Boxer Watch. Excerpt:

What’s more laughable, though, is that Boxer would discuss, on a serious level, legal issues with a convicted felon with a vendetta against authority figures, especially those of the Republican side. It strikes me that asking Dean about impeachment is a fool’s errand. Based on her record, I’d say that Sen. Boxer fits the bill for the right type of fool.

Indeed.

This is just more of the same hysteria that Boxer engages in whenever she has the opportunity. For example, lying during the confirmation hearings for Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and challenging the Presidential election certification by the congress. Boxer is a loose cannon, somewhat like Howard Dean.

Attention California Taxpayers – Does Meathead have his hand in YOUR pocket? Worse yet, does he have plans for your kids?

State’s preschool ads play politics, critics say

[To] opponents of actor-director Rob Reiner’s pending $2.3 billion universal preschool initiative, the spots feel more like taxpayer-financed political advocacy that primes voters for the June election.

They criticize the fact that Reiner chairs the state commission paying for the ads and also leads the initiative campaign that may benefit by its message.

“It’s a matter of sheer common sense – this is an expenditure of taxpayer dollars promoting preschool,” said Jon Coupal, president of the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association. “It’s clearly connected to the pending initiative, and as a matter of ethics it crosses the line. Whether it crosses the legal line remains to be seen.”

Just as Damsel and I thought: the preschool endorsement ads are a political ploy by the left. It seems that the socialist-inclined teaching profession wants our kids sooner in order to prevent parental contamination of their well-thought-out political indoctrination of your kids. We spotted this underlying theme in the ads when they began, and contend that the socialist attitude is “you birth ’em, we’ll take it from there.” This concept is working in China and other communist nations, where youth indoctrination is vital to the survival of tyrannical governments. They don’t want your parental guidance of morality, ethics and religion to interfere with their program.

As for Meathead’s political connections, he seems to have abundant ties to hollywood radicals and socialist-leaning Democrats, evident from the picture on the right.
