The Newest Dog
Beethoven (a.k.a. Bay Bay) has been with us for about nine months now. He is fitting in with our routine and gets along with the other two dogs (Bear and Cabela) just fine. He is a handsome little fellow and is very affectionate. He sings to us when he is anxious to go out or to be fed.
We’re his fourth home. He came to us when he was eighteen months old. It’s still a mystery why the other families brought him back to the Humane Society. But we’re glad they did and I think Bay Bay is too since he seems to love us and our home.
A Tale (Tail?) of Three Pinschers
Just as we were about to head home from the Dog Park today, a gentlemen showed up with his Doberman Pinscher. It was an interesting thing to see the similarities and the contrasts between the Doberman and our two Miniature Pinschers.
When we adopted Cabela, the Humane Society told us that Min-Pins are terriers and not related to Dobermans. The large breed is more closely related to Greyhounds and Rottweilers. Still, it was almost like the big dog was having a “mini me” moment. Click on the image to enlarge.
Meet Beethoven
On an impulse, after seeing an item in the local newspaper that featured a “Pet of the Week” item, we went to the Humane Society of Wickenburg (NOT affiliated with HSUS) and adopted Beethoven, another Miniature Pinscher. Now, Cabela has a new little brother.
Beethoven (AKA Bay Bay) is a little underweight and has been through several adoptions that did not work out, but we have had him here all day and think that he will be just fine with us and our other two dogs. He is about eighteen months old and at this time, he is on my lap enjoying a nap and back rub.

Lightning and Thunder
Over the past several days, monsoon season has been in full swing in Arizona and other areas. We listen to a local radio station where the National Weather Service has the capability to override regular programming with NWS warnings. They have interrupted a couple of times today with alerts for severe thunderstorms in Maricopa and Pinal counties.
Damsel and I were out walking Cabela a few minutes ago when we observed a four-engine jet airliner flying above us (VERY unusual). Since the plane flew overhead eastbound and then turned to a southeast heading toward Phoenix, I can only guess that the crew diverted to this area to avoid the severe storms in progress in west-central Maricopa county and were proceeding toward Phoenix Sky Harbor.
We haven’t seen lightning shows as awesome as those depicted above, but the past several days and evenings have put on a pretty good show of lightning flashes and rolling thunder. We have had a little rain including a steady downpour for a half hour or so two or three evenings ago.
