Rush to Ban Guns

US Representative Rush, D-ILL (should be DULL)Anti-gun Democrats just can’t wait to unleash the greatest barrage of harassment to legitimate gun ownership in the history of the US Congress. At the center of today’s anti-gun attitude is one Bobby Rush, a U.S. Representative from Illinois. He seems to be in a rush to deny gun ownership. Like Barack Obama, who once told John Lott that he didn’t think anyone should own a gun, Rush has adopted the same position and has taken the first steps toward the goal of eliminating all guns from private citizens.

According to David Codrea, of Guns Magazine, “This is nothing less than a declaration of war on American gun owners.”

World Net Daily reveals that this legislation would require that legitimate gun owners would have to comply with these ridiculous measures:

Among the more controversial provisions of the bill are requirements that all handgun owners submit to the federal government a photo, thumb print and mental heath records. Further, the bill would order the attorney general to establish a database of every handgun sale, transfer and owner’s address in America.

Rush thinks that just because some thug jumps on a Chicago bus and shoots and kills Blair Holt, a passenger on the bus, that ALL gun owners must be punished by having to obtain a Federal “Blair Holt” gun license.

Somebody ought to look at Bobby Rush’s mental health records.

Liberty Sphere has a run down of this and a bunch of other Second Amendment issues on the Round-Up.

Last Chance

While looking for a topic to post, I ran across this humorous banner on the Glock30SF website.

It would be funnier if it weren’t true. All the rumors and the incoming administration’s body language and slate of appointees make these times really scary.

Black Friday

“They” say that black Friday is called that because it’s the first time retailers begin to see profits, i.e. going from the red into the black. I’m not into all of that sort of merchandising lingo, so I’ll interpret it to mean that we should buy something black. Examples:

Anyhow, ‘Black Friday” will have to wait until Saturday for us, since the GUN SHOW is tomorrow. We’re in a shopping mood, like many gun buyers in America.

The current ‘gun run’ is explained, in part, by Frank Brownell in his current “WebBench” newsletter:

Of all the factors causing the current buying rush, the Obama-nation effect has the largest impact because of the Democratic agenda and their penchant for banning guns. The current make-up of the House and Senate, being almost filibuster-proof, also adds to the fray. Keep in mind it was the Dems who put together the most restrictive weapons ban law we have seen. Word from those in the know is that the Assault Weapons Ban will come back for a vote – hi-cap mags for rifles and handguns are just the tip of that mess – however, this time there won’t be a sunset clause. They also want to close the so called “gun show loophole”, limiting private sales of firearms between individuals. We should expect the first shot across the bow not long after January 20th. They also plan to try to slip this through with little warning or discussion.

Emphasis mine.

Special Election Day Message From
Wayne LaPierre And Chris Cox
Vote November 4

This long campaign season is down to its final days. Next Tuesday, the American people will make their choice. It is more important than ever that every gun owner and everyone who values our liberties, takes action to protect the future of our Second Amendment rights. The threat is real, and the consequences of this election will be felt for years to come.

In 2000 and 2004, American gun owners rose to the occasion and defeated tough, seasoned opponents of the Second Amendment — Al Gore and John Kerry. And those opponents got craftier each election cycle in camouflaging their true beliefs about gun ownership.

Today, we face a different challenge. Barack Obama has such a long, openly anti-gun record that he cannot hide his true stance. All he can do is try to paper it over with platitudes. “If you’ve got a gun in your house, I’m not taking it,” Obama says on the campaign trail, although he voted in Illinois to do just that. And he goes on to admit the real obstacle: “Even if I wanted to take it away, I couldn’t get it done. I don’t have the votes in Congress.”

In contrast, we have John McCain and Sarah Palin. Make no mistake about it, the best hope to protect the Second Amendment is the election of John McCain. Sen. McCain has a strong record of supporting the Second Amendment, and Gov. Palin would be a stellar new voice for gun owners in Washington.

The record is clear. Barack Obama, with his career of supporting every gun control scheme he’s ever encountered, would be the most anti-gun president in American history.

Our mission — and our duty to protect the Second Amendment — is to defeat Barack Obama, now.

We must ensure that Obama never has the chance to push the radical schemes he promoted in Illinois, or voted for in the U.S. Senate, or funded through the Joyce Foundation. And we must ensure that the Congress, the governors and the state legislatures all stand against Obama and those who think like him. The only way we can do this is by voting for candidates endorsed by the NRA Political Victory Fund. Go to www.NRAPVF.org and identify your pro-gun candidates. They need your support this Tuesday!

John McCain and Sarah Palin — and all the NRA-PVF endorsed candidates — need your vote. And they need the votes of your family, your friends and your fellow sportsmen as well.

Take action. Vote. Make sure that everyone you know who supports freedom votes on Tuesday.

Now is the time to make “Vote Freedom First” a reality. On November 4, defeat Barack Obama and Joe Biden, by voting John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Pistol and Holster Combo

In a couple of months, We’re going to be out and about doing some research for a potential relocation of our residence. Most places we’re going will be CCW positive territory, so I am planning to take along the Glock 30 parked in this Bianchi holster under the winter garb we will need (It’s going to be a lot cooler than we’re used to).

It seems a shame to hide something this purdy under the coat. (Clickable Image)

Second Amendment Colors

The true context of firearms ownership is in the defense of liberty, defense of country, defense of family and the traditional provisioning of game for the table. There is so much at stake in the coming weeks for these constitutionally-guaranteed rights. Keep this in mind as you look at this nice portrait of my favorite pistol – and be sure to vote with this in mind.

Pete Talk About Guns

Dear Folks,

pete-b.jpgThis year we’re facing one of the most pivotal Presidential elections in our country’s history and certainly one of the most hotly contested races in modern memory. These next 2 weeks are weeks of “Last Chances” as the election comes even closer on November 4. As all of you know, if you’re not registered you can’t vote. (Some states do allow same-day registration but to stay on the safe side, I’d go ahead and get it done if you haven’t already.)

If the past two Presidential elections are any indication, this years race will almost certainly come right down to the wire once again. The days of Reaganesque landslides are over. When you hear folks say that they don’t vote because their one vote won’t make a difference well…they do and just a handful of votes have decided who won the Presidency. Get out and register: it doesn’t matter if you affiliate yourself with the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, the Independents or any other party. Register and take a good hard look at each candidates views on the issues that impact you, and our industry the most. One of the most valuable items you’ll ever receive in your lifetime is that voter registration card.

Read the rest of Pete’s remarks.

Get your fellow sportsmen and shooters to register and vote – It’s really important this time.
