Damsel and I were awakened this morning to the sound of thunderclaps rather nearby. Rain showers started shortly afterwards with some periods of heavy rain but not enough duration to make the little creek on the west side of the rock and cactus garden flow.
As I write this mid-day, the forecast is for more showers and possible embedded thunderstorms this afternoon and evening continuing into Monday. We’re under a flood watch and possibly a flood warning later. The electricity is on, we’re comfy inside and the rain lets up long enough for us to walk the dogs. Life is good.

We’re at a 20% chance tonight, but if we get any, it’ll just sprinkle. NWS issued the first Freeze Watch, and the grass is going dormant, along with the trees really starting to turn, and drop.
Time to roll up the hoses, bring them in, and put the little styrofoam “hats” on the spigots so the don’t freeze.
SLW wants a leaf blower that mulches so we don’t have so many bags to haul out of here this year!
We’ve had a few rain showers since this AM, but not enough to warrant any of the flood watches.. As for leaves, our only deciduous trees have fine bipinnate foliage which disappears into the desert rather quickly. Not much to clean up.
