We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable 4th of July. We will be dining on pulled pork sandwiches, watching fireworks later and we’ll be watching Baseball and other stuff on our new 50″ Smart TV. Happy 4th of July!
May God Bless America and keep her safe from adversity especially from within.

We had rib eye burgers, macaroni salad, and chips.
A delightful day!
Rib Eye Burgers sounds interesting. Ground meat? Or a slab of beef?
Either way sounds yummy.
We had a peaceful and enjoyable 4th.
They were made from fresh ground rib eye, and were pretty good. The wife got them at a local butcher shop. Now that we’ve been here a couple of years (already?!?) we’ve found some really good local places for groceries and meats.
And the “Farmer’s Markets” out here are manned by REAL farmers! There’s been times we had field-to-table fresh veggies that were literally a couple of hours out of the field.
If we were into canning at all, we could have almost home-grown veggies all year long!
That’s awesome to have those resources.
Many of our recent ancestry hails from Colorado – Montrose on the west and Pueblo across the Rockies. We have numerous cousins (first, second and third) still in the Aurora/Parker area. Not sure about Grand Junction, Palisade and Montrose, although likely.
I’m sure those folks in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries did what you suggest by growing and preserving.
We hope to visit those places later this summer, God willing.
