The Annular Solar Eclipse of May 20, 2012

Well, this is the reason we came to Page, AZ. Image taken at about 18:34 when the moon was close to maximum eclipse. It was magnificent!

I used my Canon SX40HS camera fitted with a Rainbow Symphony solar filter. The camera settings were F2.7, 1/1600′ and ISO 3200 film speed. Click on the image to enlarge.

    And it burns, burns, burns,
    That Ring of Fire,
    That Ring of Fire!

    Stunning pic, BTW.

I made a pinhole box and watched the partial eclipse from SoCal.

Damn, was this a spectacular eclipse. The next one is going to be in 2017. We’re planning to be in or near Casper, WY for that one.
