On the morning of our return to Arizona, the cereus cactus in the California garden happened to be in bloom. I took a couple of images of it under the skies of low clouds and fog that prevail on the Southern California Coast this time of year. I can hardly wait until the cuttings of this cactus we brought from the California House start to produce these under the sunny Arizona skies. Click on the image to enlarge.
Plant those cuttings where you can see them sitting on your patio at night. If memory serves, these open at night and wilt the next day, like the Saguaro does.
Yes and they are very fragrant. The gentleman that delivered our 3 saguaro told me to talk to them for 30 mins a day so I’ll see these when they bloom.
Your Cereus bloomed in So Cal? Oh, the envy. I have three that have been in pots for over 2 decades, and this year nothing happened in spite of this being a cool and moist spring.
Windy try re-planting them in larger pots, or in the ground. We sometimes get 10-15 flowers per arm.
