Not much to report today. We shot the usual assortment of guns and calibers. All of it was enjoyable, if not close enough to the center of the targets. We’re getting better, though.
Here, Damsel aims her Para Warthog Compact .45 caliber pistol at a paper target seven yards downrange.
I once had a Ruger 22 cal pistol and it wasn’t much good beyond seven yards…
What was the problem with it? Accuracy of the sights or not enough propellant to get the projectile to the target?
I like that new Ruger .380 – I bet it wouldn’t have problems like that.
Ref:”What was the problem with it?”
I believe the rifling created a spriling effect as the projectile left the barrel.
After five test shots at varing distances with the pistol firmly secured in a wood block mount, I couldn’t believe that I was missing the target with some of the rounds. As I cranked the target closer at 5 foot intervals I discovered that the pattern was always circular…and the circle got smaller the closer the target…
I was just being faceitious about the seven yards…just echoed your comment. The actual
distance (and I’m trying to remember) was about 10 or 15 yards to get a fair pattern around the bulls-eye. Heck that was thirty plus years ago!
