This is the hardware we took to the range today for our weekly target practice. Nicely packed in our new Pelican Case model 1450, (from top left, clockwise) Glock 30, Glock 26, S&W 908, S&W 442 and S&W 686.
We acquired the case a couple of weeks ago. As you see, it nicely holds these five compact firearms. The case is rugged, watertight, dust proof and has stainless steel hinge pins and padlock hardware. We didn’t have to modify the foam that shipped with the case although it accommodates removal of ‘cubes’ to fit any custom shape.
Range time here is $10 for an hour, just wondering what it runs in CA.
The range that we use charges $15 or $12 if you buy ammo. As far as I know, they do not enforce a time limit and it’s a per-visit charge. Members (as we are) pay $200 per year and have unlimited access. There is a discount for family memberships, so we pay less than twice the annual fee – I forget how much the actual amount is, but somewhere in the $350 range for both of us. Since we shoot almost every week, this saves us quite a bit.
We had a good visit yesterday – shot all the handguns and our 12 and 20 gauge Remington 870s.We were there a little over an hour.
That is some nice gear. We went to Carter Country hear in Houston yesterday 83 temps, perfect day for shooting. Brought S&W .40, M1 Grand and AK 47. Shoulder hurts, hand hurts and back hurts, but what a better way to get pain.
Wow, John. That sounds like a lot of fun, even if a little painful. I haven’t shot an M1 since I was in the military many years ago.
We have to drive over an hour each way to get to the nearest outdoor range. We’re going to do that ‘one of these days,’ but we’re happy with the indoor range for the time being. They allow handguns, shotguns and small-caliber rifles. The AK, sadly, has been outlawed by Democrats here in the state.
We pay $30 a year for our family plan (mom, dad and everyone under 16) at the club, but it gets tough in the winter. There is no indoor range and it gets hard to feel the trigger when it is -10 with the wind chill. But it sure is sweet for the other six months of non-winter a year.
Sounds like a sweet deal, Sig. We pay the high price here for being in an anti-gun, over-taxed and high-rent California.
One of these days we’ll be going somewhere more gun-friendly in the Southwest.
