We really don’t know if Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow today or not. Had he been in Redondo Beach, California, he might have seen a vigorous surf blown by balmy winds on a 62°(F) day.
Click on the image for the large view – but before you decide to move to Redondo Beach, don’t forget that our next great earthquake is long, long overdue.
In 1984 Olympics, I was working for a company that provided some of the communications equipment for the athletes. I was part of a rotation of technicians that had the opportunity to go to LA for a month supporting the equipment. My wife (girl friend at the time) spent a month in an apartment complex in Marina Del Ray. My responsibility was to wear a beeper and stay on call in case of equipment failure. It was more of a vacation than work. It was a lot of fun and excitement at the time. After a career change, I would travel to my company’s El Segundo office which has a great view of LAX airport. The sixth floor on 999 North Sepulveda Blvd. It was a different life back then.
I just came in from getting the snow off the driveway that picture looks pretty good.
Oh, sorry my earlier post was so off topic. I couldn’t help but yammer on about how nice it was to visit LA back then. The highlight for us was the Redondo Beach fish market.
Aloha!
I can relate to the penthouse view of LAX, Kini. In the 1970s, I was in a building on Imperial Boulevard with an office window overlooking the south runway complex of LAX. I had to move because the view was distracting – LOL. We haven’t been to the Redondo Pier for a couple of years – maybe more – but it is a pleasant place to visit.
And Kenny – I think I would take a little snow in trade for all the liberals here.
