I saw this meme on the FecesBook™ thing and didn’t do anything about it. Then, I started seeing it show up on the blogs I read, most notably Every Blade of Grass, so I decided to participate.
I have been lucky to have visited a lot of places, domestically and internationally, because of Military Service, occupational deployment, personal vacation and travel, plus my secondary occupation as a pilot and flight instructor. My count of states visited in this country is up to forty-eight of them, only missing Iowa and North Dakota. I assure you, those two are on the bucket list.
We may visit the missing two this summer, depending on how things work out, but in any event, we will extend our 2017 Eclipse Vacation to include the two missing states. There are a lot of interesting things to see and do in that region of the country and we look forward to the trip.
I made this map using the link to MapLoco to Create your own states map. Click on the image to enlarge.
That’s a bunch more than I’ve been to!
Most of mine were from when I did field service, and a few were from the times I drove between Illinois and Kommiefornia.
As to the lower 48, I have been to all but two of them. I still need to visit Michigan and North Dakota. While I also someday hope to visit Alaska, I have almost no desire at all to visit the leftist stronghold of Hawaii regardless of the natural beauty and bikinis.
All the best,
GB
I note that all three of us are missing North Dakota. Who’s up for a Bismarck Blogfest?
NOT in the winter!
DrJim – AMEN to that – it’s cold enough here, let alone reconnoitering in the tundra somewhere.
Yeah, I wouldn’t visit from September to April. Unless you want to hunt. I live here and we get acclimated to a very small degree over time. But coming here in the winter from some more moderate temps can be very difficult. Gary
Thanks for the insight, Gary.
We see a lot of snowbirds here in Wickenburg, AZ. during that time span every year. There are license plates from Canada, the Dakotas, Wyoming, Montana and other cold places.
Glenn B is the hunter in this comment group. I believe he is currently planning a trip to Alaska for hunting and fishing.
