Now, THAT’S Ferocactus latispinus, the Devil’s tongue. With those bright purple flowers, there’s no mistaking that one for the local Fishhook Barrel. Absolutely gorgeous!
Yes, yes it is. Pretty.
We were worried about it earlier, the bunnies or the lil squrrils ate the top of it. All the new growth was eaten. So we are pretty happy it bloomed.
I can see the scars. If they ate the growing tip, it should sprout new branches.
I built a little cage outta chicken wire that seemed to stop them eating it. That was early summer. Now it has a bunch of blooms.
