Golden Ball Cactus When I bought this Golden Ball Cactus (Notocactus leninghausii) at the garden shop the other day, the flower buds were all closed. Just a little while after I got it home and on the patio, the flowers opened. Click on the image to enlarge. Share 07 Jun 2012 by Damsel Arizona Flowers Home & Garden Photography
How long does it stay in bloom?
Some years ago while stationed at Edwards AFB, California I was introduced to the desert in spring. What a marvelous sight to see… I recall a spot somwhere west of Lancaster where all the shutter-bugs from L.A. would come up to the high desert to take pictures…and I wouldn’t normally bring this up but years later I saw the same picture (that many of us took) on a calendar sold at a mall in Massachusetts.

The Poppy Fields? Thats the only location Cap’n and I can think of. The desert in the spring and summer are really nice.
