This beautiful cactus flower is blooming on a hedgehog cactus in a neighbor’s yard just down the road from our house. Ours will be blooming soon. We have two hedgehog clusters in front of our house. I just love our colorful spring here in the high Sonoran Desert. Click on the image to enlarge.
Nice flowers.
I have two that are called Johnson’s Pineapple Cactus (Echinomastus johnsonii) that have flowers just as colorful and beautiful. The Hedgehog is easier to grow, though.
Damsel, I revisited your post about the Gopher snake, and saw that you said that the puppies were curious. You might consider investing in rattlesnake avoidance training for your dogs, if such is available in your area. Better to train them that snakes are dangerous than have big vet bills, or actually lose one to the rattlers. (You and the Cap’n are smart enough to know the diff between harmless and dangerous snakes, so you don’t need the training. 😉 )
We have the clinics available we just havent checked them out yet, retirement is a very busy thing.
Yeah, I’ll bet you guys are underwhelmed by your busy schedules. 😉
Whew! Grueling!
