. . . to see these beautiful Winchester 9x19mm Luger Parabellum rounds. Parabellum is from an ancient Latin credo – “Si vis pacem, para bellum.” Translated, it means “if you seek peace, prepare for war.”
Damsel took this artistic photo last weekend when we were doing gun maintenance after our weekly target practice. I use the big version for a computer background picture.
And to think: I came over to get my fix on beautiful flowers!
I agree all the way: Never be unprepared for the challenges that await!
Have a great weekend!
If you look closely at the copper-jacketed bullets, you can see the reflection of Damsel and her camera. Sort of a self-portrait. And don’t worry, the backlog of her flower pictures is overwhelming.
“Si vis pacem, para bellum (If you seek peace, prepare for war.) ” — Publius Flavius Vegetius Renatus who was a 3rd-century Roman, coined this phrase or similar. Luger, the German firearms manufacturer, used it as their motto at the beginning of the 20th century.
Samuel F.B. Morse had this sage advise as well: “If you beat your sword into a plowshare, you will probably end up plowing for someone who kept their sword.”
A smart, albeit eccentric, man.
