This quintet of flowers opened up today on my Bishop’s Cap cactus in the courtyard. This happy little barrel cactus just keeps on making pretty flowers most of the year. Even though five flowers seems to be a lot, this cactus has had as many as 20 flowers open at the same time. Click on the image to enlarge.
The desert in bloom!
Yes and I love it!
Do cactus flowers have any scent?
I’d be a bit hesitant to get my nose too close, but was curious…..
The gift that keeps on giving!
drjim, some do, some don’t. The Queen of the Night that Damsel featured last summer has a heavenly fragrance, yet I can’t detect anything out of the barrels or Mammillarias.
I take that back about the barrels. My Horse Cripplers are barrels too, and they have a light, fruity fragrance.
