With much of the country immersed in frigid conditions, I would feel remiss if I failed to report how the “polar vortex” is affecting us here. This winter, just like last winter, has it’s warmer and cooler days. This image is from earlier this afternoon on our back patio in the shade.
The Greenbats and media (but I repeat myself) will be all over this as being caused by greenhouse gasses, cow farts, etc. People, the climate cycles are nothing we can do anything about.
Both Damsel and I agree that we prefer summer here in the desert and often remark “Add thirty or forty degrees to that temperature – then it would be NICE.”
Yeah, it’s been high 70’s, low 80’s here the last week or so.
Yep – we’re in a good phase of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation. Don’t worry, though, winter is still to come.
We were socked in all day down on the old Navy Mole. At lunch time, you couldn’t even see across the parking lot.
And it’s supposed to be even heavier on Thursday…..
Wow! When we lived in K-stan, the fog would roll in after a few days of Santa Ana conditions. I guess that hasn’t changed.
We don’t miss it at all.
Hmmmmm….never thought of it being associated with the SA winds, but I guess it makes sense.
Yep – a lot of pilots and boaters know that the end of a Santa Ana conditions usually brings the pea soup. After flying out of SoCal airports for forty years, I can attest to having a lot of flights cancelled after the warming stops.
