Harris’ Hawk I walked outside this morning to be greeted by this guy perched on a branch near the bird feeders. It is a Harris’s hawk. There were two of them, mates, I assume, browsing the area for prey. Click on the image to enlarge. Share 07 Dec 2012 by Damsel Arizona Critters Photography
Great photo!. There’s always this hawk on a big light pole on the road into where I grocery shop, there almost every day. The field in front of him must be rife with small dinner tidbits.
Thanks! We have alot of open fields around here, probably great for appetizers. They really scare the little birds also.
Great shot of a beautiful bird!
Thanks drjim. He/She was a big one and its mate was with it.
Raptor country. I could have used one of these when there was a mouse in the house. As it was, my cat finally found it. Per Wikipedia, the females are usually larger than the males: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bird_of_prey
