Parked I was up filling the bird feeders today after draining, flushing and securing the travel trailer in the RV drive today, when I snapped this photo of the RV parked and awaiting the next trip. Click on the image to enlarge. Share 03 Dec 2012 by CapnBob Arizona Retirement Travel
We sold our Dutchman when it was bearly a year old. We made one trip to Lake Travis in Austin, Texas and other than a few days out at the Fort Rucker Campground(near our Alabama home) we hardly used her. I know we took a loss on the trailer but I’m getting on in age and thought I would start on my bucket list before its too late. We recently purchased a sailboat (at our New England location) and will be sailing her to Florida next year. It’s not an overly large boat but sleeps four comfortably with all the amenities of home…head w shower, refrig, stove and 1000 watt inverter. I’d planned to do the trip alone but I ran into a former classmate (one year ahead of me) who is also planning the same trip…so we decided to follow each other down the intra-coastal waterway. Aside from the compass I have an automatic pilot and a chartplotter w GPS. Hopefully all goes well for my real wish is to sail the Atlantic and this will be a practice run. I’m 72 now and hope to sail across the Atlantic before I’m 75. Next on my bucket list is to take a trip south of the equator. I’ve been all around the world north of the equator and somehow never made it to the other hemisphere…maybe I’ll do it by boat.

That sounds pretty ambitious, Norm. Good luck with it.
My only excursion south of the equator was a trip to Tahiti in 1971. Interesting, but we have no desire to travel outside of the 48 contiguous states.
When I was younger I didn’t worry about it much…and it wasn’t as frequnt in those days. The ‘it’ I’m talking about is pirates. As I’ve been a subscriber to SAIL Magazine for many years, I always read their editorials on this subject…they still report piracy on the high seas at least once per year. I also keep up to date at this website http://www.noonsite.com/General/Piracy
Whether I make the trip across the Atlantic remains to be seen but even if I don’t, I will probably take a trip to Prince Edward Island. Its not only safer from pirates in northern waters, I also have a childhood friend that lives on PEI. If time permits after a few sail excursions my wife is already talking about obtaining another camper to travel to Seattle, Washington…her best friend from high school lives out there. One thing about a bucket list, its very flexible (LOL).
