I spotted this little guy making his way across the RV drive today while we were working in the yard. It was less than two inches long, so it must be a juvenile Regal Horned Lizard. They can grow to be up to about 5 inches in length. Click on the image to enlarge.
As Yosemite Sam would say, “Great Horny Toads!”
On my several trips out to AZ, I was only lucky enough to see a couple of horned lizards that I can remember. One up in the mountains at close to 8,000 feet on Mt. Wrightson and another somewhere closder to Tucson as I recall. Pretty neat critters.
