Sunspot 1575 is currently pointing in our direction. It looks like the class of sunspot that can disrupt things in the electrical grid and in communications satellites. Of course, sunspots can be directly traced to periods of warmer and cooler temperatures on Earth. Click on the image to enlarge.
So will that little blip (probably ten times bigger than earth – at least) be making it any cooler do you think? I am kind of hoping for a mild winter not a cold one.
Over the last 400 years, the evidence is more sunspots equals warmer weather. No single sunspot can determine weather activity on our planet since there are currently about 90 sunspots and only six with numbers assigned. My photo did not resolve the other numbered spots very well.
Chances are that we will have a mild winter given the wimpy performance of this solar cycle, but don’t plan on growing fruit this winter. 😉
