We took an unscheduled scenic drive today. We took the dogs to the Wickenburg Dog Park and after that, we went to the recycle center to dispose of glass, plastic and paper/cardboard.
Since it was a very nice, clear day, we decided to take the scenic loop drive north of town. At one point along the drive, I took this image of Vulture Peak with the town in front of the Vulture Mountains. In the near foreground are the local native vegetation including saguaro, creosote, palo verde and a couple of varieties of cholla. Click on the image to enlarge.
Ya makin’ me miss the desert…good photo!
Norm
Thank you Norm! We’re Lovin’ it! Hey come back to the desert.
I’d love to come back but right now we are contemplating selling our Alabama property in order to return to Cape Cod so that Debbie may spend some quality time with her mom and dad…they’re both in their ninties and her dad is about to have a knee replacement. We’ve have a condo close by her folks and usually spend several months throughout the year including Thanksgiving and Christmas and a few months in the summer.
One of my favorite spots during my military career was at Edwards AFB…minutes away from skiing at Wrightwood and right inbetween the Pacific coast and Las Vegas. So a few hours in any direction there was always something to do. A lot of people complained about the desert but I saw opportunity galore…loved every minute of it.
Meanwhile, if we sell our Alabama property I may very well get back into sailing…I’ve had a lifelong dream of sailing the Atlantic…even if I have to do it alone…and as my friendly doctor has reminded me, “Ya better hurry up!” (I’ll be 72 come Feb 29)
