I am pleasantly surprised that our frülingsgold epiphyllum produced another flower this late in the season. It might be the climate here versus Southern California, but these usually are done by April out there. I like it! Click on the image to enlarge.
Gorgeous!
Now, these are jungle cacti, if I’m mot mistaken. It’s hotter and drier where you live now, so watch that it doesn’t dry out like the desert cacti need to do. It’ll require more shade, too. I suspect that you know all this already, so I’m just sayin’. It looks like it’s in good health. (It must be, since it’s flowering.)
These are native to Central America. Damsel has this one on the back patio where there is a little early morning and late afternoon sunshine. She waters them regularly and they seem to be happy there.
Yep. That’s about the right way, I’d say.
I think the key to these guys are drainage. It was covered with flowers earlier this season. We’ve got a bunch of these, all colors. We think its the rabbits eatting the buds. Lil’ Bastages.
Oh, yes, drainage is key, so you can water this cactus like other house plants.
Besides being destructive, rabbits are rattlesnake bait! Kill ’em, and make rabbit stew.
