The latest planned improvements milestone is now complete: steel security doors. We probably don’t need these doors for security as much as we want the southwestern style and the ability to open the front door, let the air in and keep the bugs out.
I made a composite image of the doors that the installer put in place yesterday. Left to right, the front entrance, patio entrance and the garage entrance. I have to admit that Damsel knocked this one out of the park. Click on the image to enlarge.
Really cool!
That’s an interesting hinge arrangement on the patio doors. I’m assuming the right side door opens on to the left side one, and then you can swing them both open?
And I like the symmetry of the little Indian (Hopi?) pipe-player.
I looked it up after you posted the name of the figure, and it’s the god of fertility?!?
Truly stunning! I’m looking to put a gate on our front entry, and painting our ironwork brittlebush green, and this is inspiring.
The patio doors are pinned in the middle. If you want to open them both, there are levers that retract the pins enabling the left door to swing out all the way. They’re neat.
Kokopeli seems to be everywhere out here, so we went with that and other native American symbols. Damsel wants the gate under the arch to look like native petroglyphs.
