This afternoon, I walked across the road from the house and snapped this panoramic image of the new house. On the left edge of the image, you can see the RV drive-through exit. The contractor graded and compacted the drive all the way from the concrete apron (right side) through the RV parking space (with full hookups) in the rear and back down to the main road. Beautiful! Now, landscaping! Gitcha some cacti, desert plants, and mesquites (for shade).
We already have native mesquite, creosote, pencil cholla, palo verde and hedgehog cactus on the lot. Damsel will bring some of her cactus from the California House and start with accents next month. Meanwhile, I want to get some red crushed rock down on the RV pull through and in the dog run area. A wall around the dog run is coming soon.
Are the ‘squites close enough to the house for shade, or do you think you might have to plant some strategically? Other trees will work, too.
I like the crushed red rock, and the dog run, too.
BTW, the Creosote Bush is my favorite desert fragrance, right alongside the Arizona Queen of the Night Cactus.
We are going to have to plant some stuff for accent but shade is not a problem. We have a nice patio on the shady side of the house. Damsel will probably want to plant a tree or two out front after the wall is in place. We have some night-blooming cereus we’re bringing from California – those have a very nice fragrance.
Excellent!
