We’re having our house custom built and with all new fixtures and furnishings. I told Damsel that she would have the flexibility to select whatever she liked. One of her wishes is to have granite counter tops in the kitchen and both bathrooms.
Our contractor recommended a tile and granite place in Glendale, AZ, so we went there and started the process for the custom granite counter tops. Part of the process is to select the exact slabs of granite to use. To do that, we had to drive a few miles to a place that has a warehouse full of granite slabs.
Damsel and I walked up and down aisles and aisles of the huge slabs looking for the right colors and patterns of the natural granite to suit her taste. Finally, we both liked the slabs pictured above and decided to place the order. Click on the image to enlarge.
The next step is our contractor will furnish the specific dimensions and we will select the finish for the edges of the counter tops. We’re making a lot of progress on the new house this week.
Those are some BIG chunks of rock!
Soon to be cut and polished into smalller nicer rocks. I think we like it!
Yeah, that’s an interesting grain pattern it has.
Have you guys decided on the cabinet finishes, floor material, and other stuff like that?
Yep…the floor is Pompeii Agate. The walls bone satin. So far so good.
Preview of the cabinets can be seen on the family blog.
They look very nice.
my wife an i LOVED to walk around to pick out the stone for our house! it sounds like it’d be boring, but it really was pretty cool to see all those different types of rock!!!
hope you two are doing well!!!
God Bless!
Fix – where you been?
We’re doing great – building our retirement home in Arizona and enjoying the good life.
working two jobs — one of those is trying to launch a new company i founded with a buddy of mine, the other is my “day job”. we’ve just released new products and we’re hittin’ the ground runnin’ … no retirement yet for me … but i want to retire EARLY so i can enjoy life, while i can still get about, ya know?
🙂
glad you two are having fun! you go from one amazing location on the coast to an amazing location in an amazing landscape – you guys must be FILLING THE MEM-CARD TO THE MAX on your digital cameras, eh? 🙂
It’s a blast! We’re going back to AZ next week and to be sure, Damsel will be loading up her 4GB card with 12.1 megapix images. She has yet to fill up a card ever since we replaced her 500MB card which she filled up at a performance of the Blue Angels a couple years ago.
