I took this photo of my husband walking the dog in the snow last December at the KOA campground in Flagstaff, AZ. We were on our way to the Grand Canyon and camped here overnight. When we arrived the evening before, snow was falling; it continued overnight to add to the winter scenery. Click on the cropped image above to see the full-sized snowscape.
Looks like a scene from Central NY any day now.
Without the Ponderosa Pines, right?
Do they have Ticonderoga Pines?
We have uhhhhhhh tall, green, needley, coney, ummmmm sappy things that we can’t burn in the fire place. But hardwoods? Lotsa maples, birch, ash, cherry, walnut, locust, poplar – most of the elm are gone. And one boxwood elder in the backyard.
I bet your autumns are quite photogenic . . .
Autumns are simply spectacular. The best is when we take a day trip through the Adirondacks. We did that years ago on a motorcycle. The scenery …. you’ll never forget it.
I thought so . . .
I image-Googled ‘Adirondack autumn’ and got that image above.
One of these autumns . . .
The Adirondacks are very different from the Rockies; much lower and gently rounded, fully engulfed in vegetation and well populated with lakes. Plus our whitetail deer are monsters compared to the mule deer out west. Now if I could only shoot one… Been out four times this year and haven’t got a shot off yet.
I hear that about the western muleys being a lot smaller than whitetail. Damsel and I often watch the hunting on the outdoor and sportsman networks. We hope to do some bird hunting after we leave Californicate.
Better luck on your next outing, Sig.
