I’d hate to be the guy across the street from this house. He’ll have to see this every day until Paul gets dumped from the campaign trail, or, worse yet, when Paul loses as a third-party candidate in the general election a year from now.
This large, expensive and obnoxious sign is displayed prominently on a house not too far from ours. Damsel took this as we were driving to the supermarket and to the sporting goods store for some ammo and targets. We saw this a few weeks ago and finally decided to drive by for a photo. Click on it for the glorious 640×480 image. Or not.
And then there’s this (FoxNews.com):
WASHINGTON รขโฌโ Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, aided by an extraordinary outpouring of Internet support Monday, hauled in more than $4.2 million in nearly 24 hours.
Paul, the Texas congressman with a libertarian tilt and an out-of-Iraq pitch, entered heady fundraising territory with a surge of Web-based giving tied to the commemoration of Guy Fawkes Day.
Fawkes was a British mercenary who failed in his attempt to kill King James I on Nov. 5, 1605. He also was the model for the protagonist in the movie “V for Vendetta.” Paul backers motivated donors on the Internet with mashed-up clips of the film on the online video site YouTube as well as the Guy Fawkes Day refrain: “Remember, remember the 5th of November.”
Paul’s total deposed Mitt Romney as the single-day fundraising record holder in the Republican presidential field. When it comes to sums amassed in one day, Paul now ranks only behind Democrats Hillary Rodham Clinton, who raised nearly $6.2 million on June 30, and Barack Obama.
It seems like Paul’s eccentric supporters have a few bucks to spare.
yeah from living in their moms basement they have saved alot!
. . . or from not buying curtains and furniture like the house in the picture.
The Ron Paul supporters staged a unannounced march here in Hilo during morning rush hour about a week ago. Backed up traffic for about an hour and P.O.’ed a lot of people.
They’re not making very many friends by that stunt. Between the RP wackos and Code Pinko’s, we have no end of street entertainment. Unbelievable.
Last summer, Damsel and I went to Sean Hannity’s Freedom Concert in San Diego. Ron Paul’s guys were all over the parking lot generally making spectacles of themselves.
The last time we went to the Crossroads of the West gun show in Costa Mesa, CA, there was a Ron Paul booth in every vending area (five buildings). Not quite as obnoxious as blocking traffic, but there they were around every corner hassling passers-by.
What are you ppl so afraid of?
Oh, you’re not afraid? Then what’s all this ballyhoo about how big and fierce your guns are?
Why spend your valuable time slandering Dr. Paul and the ppl that believe in his message if he really is such a dope …
‘Cause you have been deceived by our cherry picking owned by military/industrial/zionist complex media. You ppl need to open your eyes and ears to the truth and the light of things.
I’m afraid I find much more light right here in mom’s basement than is ever likely to shine thru this website!
peace ppl
Regarding drew – observe the paranoia-laced rhetoric and insults to those who dare to have an opposing opinion. But – he forgot to mention that Bush blew up the WTC.
I rest my case . . .
I wonder why drew got fixated on the big-bad-ass guns? I guess he doesn’t know that one of the few good planks in Dr. Paul’s platform is a sane approach to firearm ownership. That’s why his supporters go to gun shows – just to make that point.
Dr. Paul’s got some bang for the buck!! The answer to 1984 is 1776. What we are doing in the middle east is not democracy – it’s militarization. How ’bout we deal with our own issues first – like 911 was not properly investigated and the invasion and oppression of Iraq is against the Nuremberg principles – which banned torture in Nazi Germany. Pardon us for seeing no connection or point in fattening the Pentagon’s coffers with military exercises like this (not to mention spilling our bravest and best young people’s blood). Hey I support the troops! Bring ’em home in peace, not pieces. Bush’s plan fails to make us safer. Terror is not a tangible target to war upon. Therefore, it can never be won. How convenient for those who are raking in the trillions… you get my drift? Let’s get back to basics.
Such zeal – mixed metaphors woven between rhetorical citations of non-sequiturs forming a cacophony of unmitigated Paulisms.
Congressman Paul’s fan base seems to be validating the entire point of this post.
Congressman Paul’s Fan Base? Consider this from the sitemeter log file:
drew and goldie Smith’s comments both originated from this EXACT address.
Coincidence? Readers can make their own judgments.
and there’s no CURTAINS!! bet we do THOUGHT CRIMES!! lol
Ahhh . . .
Somewhat like the Paulbots that bias on-line and telephone dial-in polls. The very same Paul supporters that send mass spam illegally and are currently under Federal investigation.
Class act.
Sticks n’ stones, fed investigations all around – how bout Cheney? How bout Mitt Romney’s voting machines sans paper trail? But ‘nuf said. You go ahead and have a nice evening, with curtains. thought it was a free country? Hands are in the air and pockets empty. Have a nice life, Bob ๐ Peace out, Goldie
drew/goldie reminds me of a South Park episode where Cartman and the boys take to the basement to defeat the rule-breaking on-line gamer. They dedicated their lives to defeat this evil jolt-drinking fat guy – and won, only to find out they had become him.
