Last night we saw Walt Disney’s Eight Below. Inspired by a true story, this Antarctic adventure is about sled dogs, rescue, survival and more rescue. The movie has beautiful scenery, dramatic and exciting sequences and is mostly about these wonderful dogs. This movie was so good that we had to add a new rating level to my on-line DVD database — “excellent” didn’t quite get it, so “sensational” has been added.
Above: “Max” and “Maya”
If you enjoyed “Snow Dogs” and “March of the Penguins” then “Eight Below” is for you. If you haven’t seen them yet, then I highly recommend seeing all three!
My wife just watched Eight Below. I saw the part all the way up to the beginning of the sled trip (had a conference call to attend).
She keeps asking if I want to watch the rest of the movie. I tell her, “No. The part about how the dogs survive is all made up anyway. If I wanted to see a story, I’ll watch The Waterboy, an A&E Special on Dinosaurs, or something like that …”
😉
Always gets a little Flick-Of-The-Eye from her. 🙂
Glad you both liked it! I hear that everyone really likes it!
Hey Steve — it’s about the dogs, dawg!
We know that the story is fictional, but just visit the website for the movie and tell me that you can’t be a fan of the canine actors. They are soooo cute!
Last summer we were in Denali and met some of these dogs up close and personal. We’ll never forget the way that they all barked for attention when the staff was picking out the dogs for sled duty – pick me! Pick me! It was wonderful! And so are they!
