Today we were at our local garden emporium and found dozens of orchids blooming in the hothouse section. I just had to get pictures of some of these most beautiful and exotic flowers. This is one of the prettiest of so many varieties. This photo shows several aspects of the flowers: face on, profile and oblique views.
Damsel….darn fine photography. I do some of my own using a hacked Digital Rebel but when I can I want to step up to a Canon 20Da. Here in Milwaukee we have a park with three indoor domes with various plant life that photographers love to come and practice shoot, so if you ever come thru this way, stop by the Mitchell Park domes, as well as the Boerner Botanical Gardens.
My main thing is race photography but I carry my gear whereever I go and if I see a sunset or sunrise I like, or news that happens in front of me, I throw on my jacket and go to work. But you and I know it’s not work, right?

Thanks for the compliment racefan. We always take Cap’n Bob’s little Canon PowerShot to the garden shop (or wherever). I shot the orchid with the little camera. My Digital EOS was at home – usually don’t lug it along unless we’re out on a drive or vacation. I often take pictures with the big camera here in our garden. And yep – it’s never anything other than a labor of love.
And thanks for the travel tip. I’m sure we will pass through your way when we take the big tour after the Cap’n retires.
