Those are among my favorite bulbs! I rescued one that was left behind several years ago when renters moved out, and grew it indoors for several years. It flowered every year with a deep red triple flower stalk. Stunning flowers! So are the ones shown here. This is probably the best bulb as far as indoor bulbs go, though a favorite of mine is Ledebouria socialis. That one doesn’t have spectacular flowers, but does extremely well indoors, has very beautiful variegated foliage, and the flowers are interesting under a magnifying glass. Its main claim to fame is that the bulbs sit on top of the soil, rather than hiding beneath it.
One of the most stunning Christmas trees I’ve ever seen was decorated with these. It was just beautiful. Like Bulbs also.
Damsel, there’s a native bulb called Desert Lily (Hesperocallis undulata). Difficult to grow, as it is so extremely adapted to the desert, but it seems to need winter rain, and must be dry all summer long, until November. It’s found in far western Arizona and California. If you can start it from seed, it might work as a pot plant.
