{"id":7385,"date":"2018-05-12T14:53:53","date_gmt":"2018-05-12T21:53:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/capnbob.us\/blog\/2018\/05\/12\/21-flower-salute\/"},"modified":"2018-05-14T22:00:10","modified_gmt":"2018-05-15T05:00:10","slug":"21-flower-salute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/capnbob.us\/blog\/2018\/05\/12\/21-flower-salute\/","title":{"rendered":"21 Flower Salute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href='http:\/\/capnbob.us\/graphics\/imageview.php?image=http:\/\/capnbob.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/echinopsis-trichocereus-21.jpg' title='21 beautiful flowers'><img src='http:\/\/capnbob.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/echinopsis-trichocereus-21.jpg' alt='echinopsis-trichocereus-21.jpg' width='550' \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Even more spectacular than <a href=\"http:\/\/capnbob.us\/blog\/2017\/05\/21\/cherry-red-cereus-cactus-flowers\/\">last year&#8217;s opening<\/a>, our &#8220;<strong>Cherry Red<\/strong>&#8221; <em>Trichocereus Grandiflorus<\/em> cactus presented us with twenty-one beautiful hot pink flowers this morning. Despite the Cherry Red nomenclature, the color of the petals in bright sunlight has a definite pink tinge.<\/p>\n<p>This is our third, and most spectacular year of flowers on this cactus. It is in it&#8217;s original pot from when we bought it, and now needs to be transplanted into a larger pot or into the ground in the rock and cactus garden. The only problem with the latter option is that I&#8217;m afraid that the desert wildlife will nibble on the cactus, buds and fruit. I have a larger pot into which we will put the cactus and all of it&#8217;s satellite &#8220;pups&#8221; to remain in the courtyard where it is less likely to be damaged by the critters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Even more spectacular than last year&#8217;s opening, our &#8220;Cherry Red&#8221; Trichocereus Grandiflorus cactus presented us with twenty-one beautiful hot pink flowers this morning.
