{"id":493,"date":"2006-05-30T18:40:48","date_gmt":"2006-05-31T01:40:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/capnbob.us\/blog\/?p=493"},"modified":"2006-05-31T09:03:37","modified_gmt":"2006-05-31T16:03:37","slug":"vintage-aircraft-on-memorial-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/capnbob.us\/blog\/2006\/05\/30\/vintage-aircraft-on-memorial-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Vintage Aircraft on Memorial Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Taking to the skies to help celebrate Memorial Day, these beautiful vintage airplanes were just returning to home base at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ci.torrance.ca.us\/2588.htm\">Zamperini Field<\/a> in Torrance, CA (named for <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Louis_Zamperini\">Louis Zamperini<\/a>, <em>living legend and WWII veteran<\/em> &#8212; but that&#8217;s another blog post). <\/p>\n<p>My aviator husband tells me that the aircraft were a mix of Stearman and Waco bi-planes &#8212; six alltogether &#8212; doing a pass over a local celebration, where they flew the &#8220;missing man&#8221; formation in honor of fallen military aviators.
