What a waste of taxpayer funds . . .<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/planet-gore\/248442\/peanuts-cracker-jacks-and-elitist-green-transportation-henry-payne\">Planet Gore<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h4>Peanuts, Cracker Jacks . . . and Elitist Green Transportation?<\/h4>\n<p><img src='http:\/\/capnbob.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/volt.jpg' alt='volt.jpg' class='right' \/>By Henry Payne<\/p>\n<p><em>Detroit<\/em> \u2013 Underscoring the perils of government ownership, GM will launch the new electric plug-in Chevy Volt with an ad buy during this month\u2019s World Series.<\/p>\n<p>That is, in the middle of the American pasttime\u2019s premier event, Government Motors will use taxpayer money to buy premium ad time to pitch a money-losing, taxpayer-subsidized, Washington-approved, green automobile to America\u2019s upper-class green snobs.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than applause for good ol\u2019 American know-how that GM anticipates, the public might well see the Volt as a symbol of government excess, more a federal-spending flop rather than the rebirth of a \u201chigh-tech\u201d GM.<\/p>\n<p>The ad buy may also endanger the Chevy brand. While the spots will trumpet Chevrolet\u2019s 100-year heritage and a place in American culture next to baseball, that place is occupied by middle-American Chevy buyers. The Volt is priced for the BMW class and its elite tastes.<\/p>\n<p>Will such consumers want a Chevy?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I hereby resolve to go out and buy the biggest <strong>Ford<\/strong> Truck or SUV with a <strong>5.8 liter V8<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>They might as well buy time on a NASCAR event.
